The Bon Jovi Feud Just Exploded: Richie Sambora Breaks His Silence

Rock Feed | July 12, 2026

Richie Sambora just said the quiet part out loud. As Jon Bon Jovi returned to the stage for the first time in four years — opening the Forever Tour at a sold-out Madison Square Garden on July 7th, his first major show since reconstructive vocal cord surgery — his former guitarist went public with how he really feels about being left out. Replying to a fan on X, Sambora said Jon “wants me nowhere near this band,” adding that “half of them get paid to start trouble.”

We break down the full comeback night: the 21-song, two-hour set with no opening act, the Joe Cocker–style “With a Little Help From My Friends” opener, the deep-cut return of “In These Arms,” and the verdict on Jon’s rebuilt voice (“Do we got it anymore?”). Then we get into the feud that’s overshadowing all of it — Sambora’s exit in 2013, Jon’s side of the story (“He quit the band”), the anonymous insider claims, and why TMZ, the New York Post, and NewsNation all report the same thing: a reunion isn’t happening. Not now, not ever.

I've been a Motley Crue fan since their beginning, and I'm not a fan of this lighter and soft Bon Jovi music, but I'd rather listen to Jon sing for two hours than listen to Vince do whatever he's doing for 2 minutes at this point.

As far as Jon’s vocal recovery and return to the stage, I wish him well. It’s evident in his documentary that he has worked hard, and this means a lot to him. I’m glad the band has his back, and the fans are giving him grace. He has been doing amazing so far, so it seems like things are going really well. They are only on night 2, but so far so good. I read they are spacing out the tour, not doing back-to-back shows the way they used to in the past, so that Jon can give his voice a rest, which I think is pretty smart. I’ve always loved Bon Jovi and I’m just happy they are back in action!

With that said… Take this with a grain of salt but here is what I’ve learned from the Almighty Internet as far as Jon and Richie….

Jon Bon Jovi allegedly offered Richie Sambora a drastically reduced 10% cut during a private meeting to discuss his potential return, down from his original 25% share of the band's profits.Insiders close to the situation revealed the details of the financial insult:The Palm Beach Meeting: Late last year, Jon and Richie met in Palm Beach, Florida, and initially "hugged it out" to discuss the Forever Tour. The Lowball Offer: As Richie was walking out the door, Jon allegedly told him that his previous 25% cut of the profits would be reduced to just 10%.The Reaction: Sources reported that Richie felt "speechless" and "stabbed in the back," viewing the third-of-the-price lowball offer as a deliberate insult. The Aftermath: Following that financial insult, the reunion talks crumbled entirely. Richie later sent Jon a polite video wishing him luck on the road, but publicly noted that Jon wants him "nowhere near this band

Ok the Bar for retirement has been set by Axl Rose in my eyes….. so Bon Jovi is gonna be fine for a while because he sounds lightyears better than the benchmark, Axl Rose. If you sound like Axl Rose then its time to hang it up. There comes a point where the memory is tarnished, like in my eyes, because the singer just wont quit and sounds like shit…..that rhymed lol. Jons ok for now.

I'm glad for Bon Jovi that he's back, but it's jut not good. He just doesn't sound good and he doesn't look comfortable. That's a bummer. As far as Sambora… I love what they did together, but he quit the band… it's that simple. Bon Jovi may have said "the door is always open," but my bet is it is not, and likely because of money. And like all of you, I've watched the interviews and Sambora just seems bitter, despite the fact that he brought it on himself and continues to clearly struggle with either alcohol and/or substance abuse. Just watch the interviews over the last year alone… he's on something!

Bon Jovi have the funds and the fans to put on a big show. Jon’s voice will be drowned out regardless. People pay good money to see a big show with the songs they grew up on, and that’s what they get. Jon’s voice sounds marginally better, and probably more so due to years of rest rather than surgery, but who knows and who cares. And as for Jon asking a filled out stadium whether he sounds good, well after paying 300 bucks for a ticket what the hell else are they gonna say. Bottom line, they have a 40 year legacy that will overcome any voice issues and any missing lead guitarist issues. Period. And Long live Sambora !! The missing link !

imho somebody really close to both guys should tell them to get together in person & at least talk about the whole situation in fairness… if they could reconcile it would be great – not only for the fans, but in general, because there's already way too much shit going on in this messed up world… we don't need another petty feud for northing to be honest! cheers! 🙂

He came back and still sounds like absolute shite…he's not even in time and his voice is STILL completely blown. Just hang it up Jon while you can still talk. Seriously deluded and his "fans" are lying to him.

No one wins in this situation. The actual Bon Jovi lineup is far from what it used to be.JBJ sings way under his usual standards,it’s just a live show where you go and and enjoy the night because the songs are great, but Richie was ina different league even thought Phil X is a brilliant player. On the other hand there isn’t Richie Sambora anymore,he’s basically fu@ked up.He always looks drunk, acts like an old boomer on social media and most of all plays guitar in a mediocre way nowadays, you just have to check his recent videos online to understand it.Everything is over unfortunately

Jon sounds terrible. I don’t know why people are kidding themselves saying he sounds good. If people are completely honest with themselves they would admit he sounds really bad. That’s just a fact.

Ive followed jon since bon jovi album. The 2 things that made him awesome were his ability to hit and sustain high register AND the great emotion and passion . This new version sadly lacks the passion. Now he's just basically tries to use volume to replace the former. He sounds ok just not great.

despicable thing for him to say publicly about his former band mate and friend, especially given it was a medical condition he couldn’t help, and anyone would want to try and be positive about. For all his faults, Jon has never slagged Richie off publicly.

These are the words of a spiteful, bitter, miserable drunk. No wonder Jon, Dave and T have moved on. Who would want that kind of erratic negativity on the stage and road with them?

At least Phil brings fun energy, great playing and some joy onto the stage with him.
