Why I changed my mind about SENJUTSU 5 years later | Iron Maiden Reaction

07:34 well, I disagree. To me, Senjutsu is their best album. It has everything. Also, I feel that comparing this album with 80s is not really fair, because the music is very different: darker, more mature, more epic and, the most important, more personal. The fact that Senjutsu is longer than Killers and slower than Powerslave does not make it objectively worse of an album. We could have gone into philosophy on this, saying that there is no objectively better album, but I would stop on the statement that the 80s are not objectively better than reunion/Senjutsu and vice versa because they are too distinct to compare, as I see it. To my taste, I prefer the reunion era rather than the 80s because of the above listed reasons.

I think Senjutsu is their most "bad" album and for me now The Book Of Souls was Incredible. I think it is a Masterpiece for me of Post Reunion albums. I like nearly Every song except The Man Of Sorrows thats the only Real Bad Yuck Maiden song and i dont like The Great Unknown but its not bad and actually Really Ok. Every other song is like Holy Moly Good for me. The Book Of Souls Its the same feeling and energy and good songs as the 80s and some 90s Blaze tracks. With Senjutsu now. Im Really disappointed. I Hope this is not their last album and if that happens it will not be a good ending. For me I think you are wrong and i disagree. I must need a new album because the songs did not stuck with me because back then i said to myself why would i like the new album. New albums are "bad" and not when there were good just like nearly all bands so for that with many bands including Maiden i wasn't excited or expecting for getting Senjutsu but that was nearly beginning of becoming one of the biggest Maiden fans i think because just because i listened to every album and it was like… What was wrong with me? I have the songs still now today and i still liking more songs now and thats the songs i didnt like at first and that is for example: Dream Of Mirrors, Strange World (thats a sick ballad and has Soo much feeling), Innocent Exile, Back In The Village, (That scream at the end by Bruce is his best), Stranger, The Prophecy (now i just want to listen to it everytime if the performance and feeling and the riffs and songwriting), Chains Of Misery (Just the best from Fear Of The Dark that people want to hear live and Maiden have mentioned it back then but didnt play it which i just learned so it means it was so close), nearly all of the X Factor and Virtual XI (My baby albums now 🥰) (Have it Higher than others. The X Factor is my 4th favourite Maiden album and Virtual XI is nearly that very high too. It is below it after one other album 😂🤘🔥🥰💯💯💯. As ive said they are my babys 🤗. Its 6th place only two after X Factor) (Hotted Takes 🔥🤘), Gates Of Tommorrow, New Frontier and Tears Of A Clown. Now the Senjutsu songs. I listened to it nearly a little bit after launch and it was only a little bit fun i actually must say and i liked songs and didnt at first but the songs did now stuck with me with that Maiden awesomeness song writing, songs, and feeling so i didnt like them as All of the other Maiden songs but the songs i liked and didnt like at first that i now like is: Stratego, The Writing On The Wall (i didnt like it at first), Lost In A Lost World, Days Of Future Past, The Time Machine (i didnt like it at first), The Parchment (i didnt like it at first but its still Waaay to long) and Hell On Earth. Now after these 5 years for me the songs have grown with me So much it has now been feeling like it is with the other albums and songs and Stratego is just good ol Maiden and the Janick solo is Fantastic, The Writing On The Wall have grown on me the most. The main riff is actually Sick and now i see why people love it the most of every song that it is a classic Maiden song but its still not the best and most will agree but it has become a classic in the Discography but not for me only a little bit. Lost In A Lost World is Actually good why do like every people i know that dont like it song it is Not bad and i thought you would like it because you seemed like it but i was wrong so ok i guess. The chours is so sick with that fun riff that also is on par to fit Bruce Vocals and its the most catchy out of every song on this album but its still not the best because the best song has everything catchy but now have that big part just like that chours in this song. Can people like it. It is Freakin Amazing. Cmon. Days Of Future Past is just great and i would kinda want in a setlist if it was just in their if i could now change it because it will still be Ok and it is still a fun song and have grown on me to that i listen to it and have putten it in a setlist if mine that i nearly like the most. I would not mind hearing this song live. The Time Machine is still what it is and its the second least favourite out of the songs i like from Senjutsu over the next song which is. The Parchment. This song should've been played instead of Death Of The Celts so i agree but its still my least favourite song on the album but for example that part that you have an audio example of is like one hell of a good part that i still listen to it if when i want to and there is more parts to it and more parts in this song that make up this song and that its not feeling like a long song. Hell On Earth is just… THe BEST. That is a song that every one should freaking like and now it has grown on the SO so so so so so so so So much that. Its one of the best Maiden song in Years and its should be in the same greatness as the 80s and i think you are right. It is nearly top 5 Maiden Epics Ever. I dont know where it is for me but thats my guess. Everything is just want i wanted for Maiden and this album. The Maiden Goodness, Awesomeness, Song, Song Writing and feeling. And today thats a song i and we come back to always and its a Classic At the very Best and that is just Awesome. I would always come back to the song and now i have gotten a new song that is as the most amazing songs again and because of that it is a new song that i will probably not stop listening to it when i want to listen to Maiden. The only thing is that the clean riff that is at the beginning and end drag for to long and being played over and over again and its way to repetitive. Its like a lyric over and over again. But now to summarize the Senjutsu album after 5 years is that now it is a Maiden album for me with the others but i dont like it as much as others because of my dumb mistake. And new fans of people must check it out for being on par with Maiden today and then listen to the rest of the albums to appreciated because it must get appreciated. Its now a good album and better than anything today and i would now say its better that Metallica's 72 Seasons actually now for me after everything i had with that album and Megadeth latest and final album. Senjutsu is just an Maiden album now that we have and its actually great and i listen to it with The Book Of Souls album which is fun and i would like to like it more because of it is actually great and it is something special to it that i have not gotten but i think i would get but the album now is great and im happy for that and now that album is an Maiden album which i have said way to many times now. I don't like the musical direction the band took since "A Matter of Life and Death" onwards. So I don't care if they do anything new or not. I'm not listening to it anyway.

Loved it when it first came out, still love it today, an easy top-5 album in their whole catalog. I love the post-reunion albums much more than their 80s output. My top 7 are:
1.The Book of Souls
2. Dance of Death
3. A Matter of Life and Death
4. Brave New World
5. Senjutsu
6. The Final Frontier
7. Fear of the Dark

I am an Iron Maiden fan since the late 80's, but the album is boring. The songs are long, repetitive, and one midtempo song after the other. No, sorry, they should concentrate on shorter songs.

Honestly for me it comes down to the sound. The production is so sub heavy and compressed. The magic with maidens albums are usually the dynamic range of the instruments. I don’t even like the remastered versions that seems to be the only versions you can stream nowadays

Loved that album from day 1. And Hell on Earth is my favourite track off the album.

I think they should release a last album in ealry 2028 or winter 2027 and keep it classic with 8 songs and One main epic, like for example Alexander the great or seventh son. Just go back to their roots and make a simple last record. And the theme can be some cowboy western eddie because they never did that

I think Senjutsu is very underrated; and Hell on Earth is my Nr. 3 from all Iron Maiden songs.

Senjutsu is absolutely terrible! Boring as hell! AMOLAD was great, but everything after that has been subpar. And for the love of Lemmy, get a different producer! Someone has to tell these guys when something isn't very good !!!

The song I listen most is "Death Of The Celts" followed by the others tracks in that second part. And to be honest, I nearly never listen to those on the first part. Sad but true.

i actually rate this album as one of there best, i agree with you that The Parchment and Hell on Earth are the pinnacle, but i actually like most of the songs on this album. I even got the cd for a mate who saw maiden for the first time in his 65 years, on future past tour, and he loves it

I listened to it when it came out, I read the comments that it was a masterpiece and I listened to it again because I might have made a mistake……I listened to it again and if you like it, listen to it and enjoy it…….

Brilliant album, but a little bit of trimming and this should have been a single disc.

Honestly I love "Hell On Earth" from the first listening but this 3 minutes long intro with repeated melody… And long fading end… This song could be flawless if it be 8 maybe 9 minutes.

Overall I like Senjutsu but hope we'll hear new album in the future.

Definitely top 3 post reunion for me. I do listen to the album in it's entirety most of the time too.
