Some of yall in the chat are literally using debate bro tactics to argue that TECHNICALLY MAMDANI WAS BORN IN UGANDA SO HE'S RIGHT TO CALL HIMSELF AFRICAN AMERICAN 😏

which is the same logic used by Elon Musk.

Im trying to save yall from yourselves i promise

I think it’s weird to make a distinction that Bernie needed to win black people specifically when the alternative was Hillary “Hot Sauce” Clinton. The argument is basically debating “shitting the bed” vs “not shitting the bed.” Older conservative chose the devil they knew. Neither choice led to racial liberation, so I don’t understand why Bernie had a greater responsibility to earn racial trust. I think democrats fumbled in 2016, but I don’t remember Bernie in 2020 because he was so obviously not the guy for that moment.

I'm pretty thoroughly convinced that the people who are like "oh, so you want to be pandered to" are people from communities that aren't used to being ignored and sidelined. It doesn't take much to show up, meet people where they are, and engage with them. I know my congresswoman because she came and gave a helluva speech at Pride one year and I kinda like with having a progressive, lesbian Latina represent me because she came and showed she's of the community and that we were worth asking for our vote and promised she'd fight for us. That goes a long way and it doesn't take much, it just takes respecting people. That's the most frustrating thing, what some people call 'pandering' is just campaigning and going out to see the voters.

Yeah, as leftists we simply can't do this anymore.

So much of the left's problems is exactly what you're doing in this video: not voting because of a lack of sufficient pandering to you specifically. Identity politics. Concern trolling about the more leftist candidate. A holier than thou attitude to people.

So much of what you said got proved wrong too. Mamdani not only won, he crushed the field in both elections. His approval rating is very very high.

I'm not telling you that you or any black person needs to vote progressive. What I am telling you is you can't make these excuses anymore, because they don't work anymore. We are well past the point where they make any degree of sense, or where you can chalk it up to "habit". Your arguments are intellectually lazy.

At this point, the only reason you either would not vote, or would vote for someone other than Mamdani is because you do not like Mamdani – either because of his politics or his identity. You just gotta own that.

I’m at 8:47 and so far you haven’t told me a single thing that dissuaded or discouraged black voters from voting for Bernie. Maybe it’ll be in the second half…

Edit: nope. Cool. Love being told I didn’t learn anything, and then not being told anything.

I’ll never understand why Bernie was so racist as an ignorant white person when people say that I have the reactionary feeling of “Fine let Trump win since Bernie is so racist” if a black person wants to educate me on this ill be receptive

There’s also a dimension here that is about generation/age. Young black people went for sanders and zohran. There’s something to explore there.

Also how are people still following Vaush? He’s an open zoophile aka bestiality enjoyer and that’s not enough for people? Also possibly a pedophile but he at least denies that. People really do not care about predation on animals seriously. People should be just as disgusted by and against zoophilia as pedophilia.

But also there are other things like his “ironic” misogyny. That’s what first started pushing me away from him. But the other gross creepy stuff put the nail in the already building coffin.

It wasn’t until later I realized how ignorant he was also on race.

But seriously people really just be ok with bestiality? Disgusting 🤢

After the release of some Epstien emails where they talk about Bernie, this video aged even worse. The 2016 primary was between Hillary Clinton, a woman who was part of the inner circle of the worst sex trafficker of the modern era and said nothing about it, much less anything about her husband's lifelong history of sex crimes, a family who was involved in drug rings and murder cover ups as well as being one of the worst political families in terms of policies in the modern era, versus a guy who that minor sex trafficking inner circle was scared of because he actually would go after their way of life. The community chose the wrong option, full stop. No wiggle room or consideration for culture or community needed. The party mobilized the community's loyalty in order to stop an attack against the power structure of a corrupt dynasty and you said "yes sir, right away sir". Whining about white leftists or whatever is shameful because they were objectively correct and you were wrong. You were wrong then and wrong now. Take the L, self reflect, and then shout down your worthless aunties and uncs who refuse to move left. They don't matter, they've never been able to choose properly.

Oh, I'm a marxist through and through. Mandani is not going to change the system or solve capitalism for anyone, including black people, the same way Sanders or whoever your ideal candidate is, don't matter how savvy about black issues, economic issues or whatever they actually are.The system is rigged and those in power won't ever surrender it peacefully. This doesn't mean, however, that we shouldn't try to support them on the little changes they can deliver, for the sake of all the opressed parties on our society.

But I guess the reason I'm saying this is to ultimately agree with the point you make on 4:50. You cannot build a revolution on the US or my country, Brazil, or really anywhere else where there's a systemic racial problem without adressing head on race issues. The fact that those are an extension of class issues in the sense of being a subproduct of the slaver economical system of production does not excuse us from dealing with its social repercutions or believing that the issue will somehow solve itself just because we took direct political power. Even Lenin had to deal with the repercussions of the many racial background inequalities in the URSSR, and those were not even that dire as racial inequality on the US is today (even looking at economical data alone).

Why did you not actually give any examples of what Bernie bros did wrong when it comes to interacting with black people? Telling someone "You made a lot of mistakes, you need to stop making mistakes." without actually telling them what the mistakes were seems so unhelpful.

I have an honest question- is there ANY person in the current political spectrum that would check the boxes for black Americans? How did Biden get overwhelmingly more black votes than Bernie? And even than Hariss? So far, the woman who is half black received LESS votes than a white man who had a slew of racist votes in his political career?

Dude is just really so fixated that he brings up Vaush at the start of his "black people can do no wrong, we should not do introspection at all, that's why our elders aren't voting left or progressive. Not because we cannot be wrong, but because nobody else can be correct except for us. Also I have an inferiority complex so I must hate the Arab."
    It's pretty lame.

Eric Adams really shows problems with abusing your own race for "easy" brownie points. Though most white liberals yet still can't understand it. Mainly Destiny and Vaush plus their supporters allowing and being ok with discrimination towards non-whites (and other issues on top of that). This video really helped open my eyes to struggles people have with supporting White Socialist/Liberals. I as a White man for years never understood why people wouldn't just support Bernie or other candidates like him just based on his views. Thankfully I've grown and learned why seeing a rally of only White people saying they are "progressive" might come off as disingenuous. Though Bernie (outside of supporting Israel) has a ton of amazing political ideas. If you can't connect with people outside of one race, then it's a problem.
