For base… the best two sounds I ever heard were… a bigger wooden pallet being dropped onto the floor of a wooden floored 53 foot van trailer with the door barley open…. and also a long wide peice of lumber being dropped over a 4 foot deep bell bottom footing hole that's eventually going to be filled with concrete. I'm guessing the board was at least 12 inches wide and 18 feet long. But I'm sure if you found something wider and longer it would only sound better.

Peter Gabriel did this in 1982 during production for his forth album. He went to a junk yard with an analog field recorder. The he sampled those sounds into a Fairlight computer. Super futuristic then, but now you can sample and create a beat on site with those sounds.

i have done a lot of impose responses in the field
but this is a game changer because it is not the same as putting a part through a impose response
this is what i am going to do
do you have a suggestion on a battery pack for the perc
i am going to use the 10101 black box as a midi trigger source and my Mix Pre 10 to record
i know i can google a power source but because you actually did it for a day i would really appreciate your advice

love seeing the MPC Live in its natural environment. Be free, little sampler! Be free! I wonder if this is what Akai had in mind XD and as I type this about it "I froze up the MPC Live" lol… welp… overheated it >_>
