What I see is an anger over the rejection of the poor social beliefs of the progressive left and democrats in general. This stabbed at the heart of DEI, 33% of the population has only a 17% window. DEI belief says this is unfair. The view of the court is hardly incorrect a majority white country elected a black man twice and majority white districts have elected every minority race to office.

Every american lawfully and physically can still head to the polls and vote so the words "voting rights" here are misplaced. It's all about orchestrated outcome and democrat leaning people have and would have enjoyed it too. The key here is how in the 21st century the country was allowing such a process to be based on race while everywhere we're telling people to not base decisions on race. It did not make sense. Take a brief look at a district in IL and they literally drew a snakelike shape so they could claim a blue district. VA's governor just baited and switched and tried the same for democrats
However, let's agree gerrymandering is bad so it should be cancelled and census should be based of citizens not anyone else..

All political boundaries need complete realignment. We ought to be able to vote within our counties, but our county and state lines are completely arbitrary. That or just do away with the house entirely and move to direct voting.

I'm gonna throw out thoughts using my limited knowledge and not looking things up on a search engine.
I see a map with lines drawn on it. I see a push by mostly the right for in-person voting. People will be physically forced to vote in person in their district. Many can't afford to move.
The internet exists. It allows us to process large amounts of messages quickly and efficiently.
You can be geolocated through a device. The tech exists to allow for extreme granularity, instead of drawing lines on a map. We could literally redo the math on who represents who more accurately with existing tech and knowledge.
We also have mail-in.
We could pass voter id, but it should be on the condition that it is used only for voting and shared only for voting.

not sure what the problem is? Louisiana is a red state. sorry your plan to turn a red state purple failed but the fact is blue voters are a minority. and for the record the 14th and 15 th amendments are not a defense for gerrymandering. black people are free to vote even if their district is red. no one is at the poll office saying "sorry but you can't vote here"
and the bit on being race blind is not enough. that is what is wrong with liberals today. the best we can do is to be race blind. even if you gave every black person their 40 acres and a mule they were promised it still won't make up for it, nothing will. it was never about "undoing" centuries of wrong, it was about stopping it, and we did, time to move on with your life.

One of the disingenuous points here is that the Louisiana GOP will now gerrymander the state to eliminate a black district. They don't have to. A natural geographic division will lead to a non-gerrymandered map that only creates one black district. The fact is you have to gerrymander the map to get the two districts. So actually you're in favor of gerrymandering.

You lament the existence of majority black cities as a result of segregation. Yet if the black population was distributed evenly in the state, it would be impossible to create even a single majority black district. Think before you speak.
