The $1 Trillion Private Health Insurance Scam
Private health insurance corporations are trying to trick seniors across America into signing up for Medicare Advantage. Is it less expensive? No. Is it better coverage? Also no. It’s just another way for corporations to skim more money off the ill.

Of all the health care scams, Medicare Advantage is the biggest. It has nothing to do with Medicare. How is it even legal for them to use Medicare in their name? That is what confuses people. What everyone needs to get is MEDIGAP. When you choose a Medigap plan, choose COMMUNITY PRICING; otherwise, they can charge you more as you get older. I think N is the best right now, but this changes.

In 1996 Clinton was President.
Looks like both teams were buddies with insurance companies.

Obamacare made a problem even worse, when that went through, I lost my good HMO insurance at work and got stuck with this crappy PPO from UHC that sticks me with 1 bill after another. Insurance should be for when something major happens, like my car insurance doesn't pay for oil changes, tires, or if the car needs a muffler. The insurance is for getting in a wreck and need my car fixed or total it, so I can get another one. They need to make it where I can negotiate a price with a doctor's office for a non-emergency procedure, also get a couple of estimates if needed. Reason insurance rates are so nuts is because of regulations and red tape.

I signed up for and continue to use plain old Medicare, I see the doctors I want, the fees are negotiated to be best for me, and no one is being paid a ton of my money for my illness!!
The other programs advertise a LOT, but aren't the best for everyday people, that advertising costs a lot of money!!!

It’s a Republican scam. They created it to compete with regular Medicare. It is completely functional and works fine. Advantage is nowhere near as good as regular Medicare.

For me? Traditional Medicare + Medicare Supplement. If it's still existing, that's my plan.

You say that as if you support nationalized healthcare, but the U.S. healthcare system is more nationalized than privately run. It’s a mix of nationalized and private initiative, with most healthcare being publicly funded.
The government may label something as private without it actually being private or privately owned. Medicare is not privat, if an entity renders services but is funded by the government, the operation isn’t private. You complain about the 'greedy private sector' and appeal to emotion using your mother’s cancer diagnosis, which shuts people’s thinking off, but in reality, this isn’t an issue of private healthcare.
“Private health insurance corporations” aren’t private. They’re collectively owned by shareholders, funded by the government, and have no regular private incentive structure. The healthcare system of Singapore is more accurately described as private, and even there, they still provide free healthcare treatments to immigrants.
The real issue with healthcare is the unnatural monopoly the government creates, the fact that it’s illegal for U.S. citizens to go over the border to purchase cheaper medication from Canada, and copyright/IP law means that if a third party wants to produce medications cheaper, they will face court challenges. Then, when there is no competition in government contracts, there is no incentive for corporations to lower prices.

Problem with these videos is you all seem to think you can make your system better when you need to look to what other countries do and just adopt their system.

There's one thing I agree with – why should my tax dollars go to someone else? If everyone just saved responsibly for bad times and was fully responsible for themselves, the average person would be better off. Yes, some people would be in a bad spot and likely die – but that happens anyway. At least it'd be fair because you could have no one to blame but yourself and your own strategies.

Great report. I worked for a large health insurance company for 30 years. I know the system is inherently corrupt – it took me years to figure that out. I am a huge believer in original Medicare and a universal coverage system. Original Medicare is a shining example of how we could reform the health care system. As a Medicare member, I have complete freedom to choose my providers. And I am protected from over charging by providers because Medicare does by far the best job at reining in medical billing since Medicare has the greatest bargaining leverage. The answer is right in front of us – a form of Medicare for all is the answer. We need to stop listening to the Reagans of the world, who are in the pockets of corporations. Thanks again for the reporting.

Dear America. Universal healthcare is actually not that bad, so you should really consider it.
Note: the main purpose of complexity is to cheat you.

Our country is on the verge of a national wave of homelessness. The corruption and defrauding taxpayers by school boards and their Central Appraisal Districts has let to property taxes that the person with a medium income cannot afford to pay . Each time a appraisal is taken , the school board demands more money from people who are struggling to provide just the basics of life for their family .
Also , hundreds of millions of bond debt is issued on the backs of taxpayers .home 12:46 insurance has sky rocketed .
Who gets these foreclosed houses ? The govt !
Houses cannot, by the article 16 of the US 12:46 12:46 Constitution , be treated as capital gains . This is private property which has not been capitalized . In fact , houses are loosing their value fast bc of all the taxes.
