So, the government collected tariffs from the importers and the companies that ultimately took the products to retail saw the higher costs and raised their prices. So, assuming that the importers who paid the tariffs sue the government to take back the illegally gotten funds, everyone else down the line is still out of luck with the higher prices they paid. The importers potentially can win, but the rest of us consumers are hosed. Also, since the prices went up and tariffs were applied, even if the tariffs are removed or reduced to previous levels, I wonder if there is any incentive for the down the line companies and retailers to reduce their prices. I am really curious if the prices will ever drop for us, though I'm not going to hold my breath.
We are going to have expensive imported products which will cause their American counterparts to keep prices high as well, especially if the end product uses imported components. Those American prices will be even less competitive in the global market and the tariffs will ruin the export market as well. Sure, Donald and his friends may have a higher number of dollars, but with the weakened spending power of the dollar, it will mean that they have less purchasing power. It's almost as if the man who bankrupted his own casinos doesn't know how the economy works.

Can we just not pay our taxes this year becuz we paid tariffs instead (joking about that for the reporting bots, until all jokes are considered political inflammation and then something else will have to be coded in)

I'd like to point out that should I win the presidency, trump, and everyone he appointed will be detained in jail for every second of 72 hours to pile on as many charges as possible.

Why you're not at a million plus yet is beyond comprehension. You're smart, funny, and an absolute breath of fresh air for folks seeking understanding amid the chaos! Thanks guiding us out of darkness and into the beautiful light!

Can we do something about all this crime & violations of our 1st and especially 2nd Amendments??? Both sides are doing it & have done, but the left especially is, especially violating + Infringing Upon the 2A way too much, in a time where we need to have been using it, yesteryear.

The scenarios are quite simple ?
1/ stay as things are with tariffs in place. ( the easy/lazy/ "blame Trump" option ) Prices rise for Americans, so Sales drop and those overseas companies lose business. We understand many of these companies in Chian and India especially, reply solely on their Sales to America ? So they lower their prices to compensate for the tariffs…or go bust ? OR……
2/ Allied to the above, American Buyers of similar products should unite and demand their overseas suppliers lower their prices to allow for the tariffs ? The price for their product to succeed in America has already been set and is now only disturbed by the tariffs. If they want the business back….its quite simple…..get back to the old prices. OR…….
3/ the overseas Countries affected, INCREASE their annual spend on goods FROM America by a TRILLION dollars or so, to address the trade imbalance and so these tariffs can be dropped ?

Another illegal thing that no one is suggesting is stealing from large companies. The government and big business hates when you take back your misused taxes through shrinkage.

The orange man will probably just double down with no guardrails only yes sir loyalist. But for those who are honest and know Trump's past know he's not a good businessman, he's not a tough guy, he's not good with women or in bed, he's not that intelligent. Almost everything is a con, hoax, grift, blackmail, not paying back loans, workers, lawyers, etc.

The upside of rarely ever listening to Trump directly is that every time I do catch something, I can pretty clearly feel the mental decline 🤣 that man has dementia, I suspected at first and then became absolutely certain. I don’t even need to see test results, I can FEEL it in his speech patterns and lack of focus after living through my father’s entire 9-year mental decline.

In 1890, six years before McKinley’s election as president, Congress passed his legislation that raised the tariffs on most imported manufactured goods to about 50%. So Trump wasn't the first President to raise tariffs. McKinley wasn't even President yet and he raised tariffs 50%.
