Rome Ramirez pulled up to Jam in the Van in Los Angeles like he never left. No entourage, no frills just his band, that unmistakable voice, and a city that still hums with the afterglow of Sublime.

He took the wheel of the van and let the music guide him. Reggae rhythms tangled with punk edges, flashes of his past with Sublime With Rome bleeding into something sharper, more present.

This wasn’t a polished arena set. This was off-the-cuff and right in the heart of LA. The kind of session that reminds you why live music still hits hardest when it’s stripped down and close up.

    I love that Rome spent so much time doing Sublime songs and creating bangers with SWR. It got his amazing voice out to a lot more listeners. Killing it solo now too. Saw Rome at the Basement in Nashville for a little intimate show trying out some new music/band members and I was just dumbfounded how good the voice is live. One of my all time favorite artists

    Honestly the Sublime name was holding ROME down. He was the true magic in that band. They are living on Bradley’s legacy…meanwhile ROME is creating his own with his own sound. His music gives me goosebumps and is something I would play on my happiest of days.

    I hate saying this because i wish it was different, but being in Sublime held Rome down for all these years. So many ridiculous sublime fans missed out by not giving him a chance. Even worse, so many showered him with hate. All the while, he wrote and performed more great music than Bradley did. Rome is the man!

    Best thing Rome Ramirez ever did was finish out the "Sublime w/ Rome" tour, the only original member left was Eric anyway. Don't get me wrong I'm a HUGE fan of Sublime and Sublime w/ Rome, but Rome needed to get out of the shadow of Bradley. He stepped up, gave it his all and it was a major success! But in my personal opinion, Rome is fantastic just being himself!!! I really enjoy him without Sublime. It's extremely difficult to compare the original Sublime to what Rome has become today, because we are talking about two completely generations of music and almost a complete change over of genre. Let's not forget the original Sublime was "SKUNK" Ska/Punk, hence Bradley's label that he then signed Slightly Stoopid to while they were still in high school (Bradley was the first one to sign Slightly Stoopid to a label). Rome has got this soulful, raw talent that got him to where he is now, I found this to be so enjoyable to not have to compare and just to listen to Rome on his own. Definitely a breath of fresh air for today's music scene!!!
