Long before our own ancestors figured out fire and hunting, Paranthropus was already off doing its own weird thing – grazing like a prehistoric cow, growing huge sagittal crests, and evolving in a direction no one saw coming. They weren’t our ancestors, but they reveal just how tangled our family tree really is. Keep watching to explore how this robust genus survived for millions of years and what finally took them out.

Seriously, humans that ate grass?? That's mind-blowing. Kind of unsurprising that it was an evolutionary dead end.

You're doing an amazing job putting all this data together into a coherent story. It actually starts to emerge as a picture of how this might have happened.

i know the “clicking” edit was probably something to keep viewers attracted, but it didn’t land that way with me. felt icky and was highly anxiety inducing. no hare! love your channel! just absolutely anxiety inducing this video.

4:17 no, it's a lot to assume that they went extinct. And it was a bad thing.Maybe they wanted to go extinct. That's just what I heard from my ancestors, but like, I mean, I don't know. They say hit with the that the history is written by the victors, but I think history is what history is and like the fact that we survive just has to do with like we, maybe we were just like better like they just needed to get good and they didn't get good. And so they died

"Like Liver King, but the opposite." This is why I watch you, LIndsay. I'm learning, I'm learning, I'm choking on my drink because you say goofy things with a completely straight tone.

16:57 what is 6oybaan? It’s listed under C3 plant examples

And sunitard? Under the C4 examples.

I found the origin (?) of that image on the LinkedIn of Naeem Nawaz, but can’t see comments to find if he makes a correction in there.

If HSV-2 came from chimpanzees why is it assumed that Homo Erectus aquired HSV-2 from eating infected Boisia flesh? Couldn't homo erectus have acquired HSV-2 directly by eating infected chimpanzee flesh?
