Oh Sh*t. I Was NOT Expecting This From Avenged Sevenfold.

Justin Hawkins Rides Again | September 18, 2025

Avenged Sevenfold are back with a new single called “Nobody” from their upcoming album “Life is a Dream”. I have never listened to Avenged Sevenfold before so this really is a genuine first listen reaction. I have really don’t know what to expect apart from the fact that I love the name. Let’s get into it!

As a lad who grew up listening to progressive rock in the 60's and 70's, music like this Avenged Sevenfold stirs my soul! Yeah, I know I'm a bit late to the party but… happy belated birthday.

RIP the Rev 😭. A true genius. You should watch the making of their self titled Avenged Sevenfold white album that they produced themselves on YouTube. Shows how talented these guys are, and a really fun watch. They're really cool and down to earth

That nuno solo in rise is technically impressive, but oh so forgettable. I have listened to that song 5-6 times just to see if that solo registers any emotion, but nope. That’s what synyster said in an interview, he said he can get more technical and fast and what not, but there will always be someone more impressive on the guitar, so what he focuses on is to write great solos that strike a chord with the listener, and that’s what this nobody solo is, it brings so many emotions out of you, coupled with the imagery in the music video, it makes you go wow.

I loved seeing the smile on your face and your enjoyment of this piece! What a great breakdown.

A7x is one of my favorite bands. It's been incredible to see them grow and mature as musicians. I got to see them on the Nightmare tour and would love to see them again. Someone suggested choosing the hits from each record to get an idea of their progression, and I would agree with that. I'd also suggest:
Beast and the Harlot album version because the video cuts Syn's guitar solo too much
Almost Easy album version for the same reason
    Trashed and Scattered
    Buried Alive
The Stage – I love this entire album. Just fantastic.
A Little Piece of Heaven – Official video, content warning and all. It's brilliant.

If you don't know their earlier stuff you should definitely check it out. In my mind Nightmare is their masterpiece, mourning their .ate and drummer The Rev. But Hail to the King as also awesome. And Synyster Gates is an incredible guitarist! Not metal enough – well, they mix punk influences with metal and more progressive stuff, but it sure is heavy!🤘

I like the skeleton leaving his body, skeletons represent death or a type of death, they're also usually the only thing left of a person after they've been dead for a long time, more literally what's underneath our skin or 'what's inside'. But, most imporantly, they're spoopy creppy.

Completely unrelated but I found out yesterday you’re playing with guns and roses, I had a strange feeling you were going to be there and the dream came true, great success 🎉🤩🤘✌️🤘

They used to have such great music. Ever since they lost Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, they've pretty much sucked. I can't stand their new stuff. They just want to suck Metallica's dick and play weird techno shit. They lost their prime writer.

Always thought Avenged would make a great instrumental band. This song just reinforces my feelings. There's just something about the singers voice that sounds like nasally fingernails down a chalkboard to me

It's not that other drummers can't be as good technically, but this band has never imo recovered from losing their brother Jimmy. The loss of enthusiasm in live performances is noticeable. I really hope this new stuff does well though

The name comes from chapter 4 of Genesis

23 Now Lemech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, hearken to my voice; wives of Lemech, incline your ears to my words, for I have slain a man by wounding (him) and a child by bruising (him).
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, then for Lemech it shall be seventy seven fold."
