My pick for today is Tony Iommi on Paranoid by Black Sabbath. Everybody knows the story by now but to this day it’s still one of the most important songs ever written. It’s quick, to the point and so influential.

Great pick!! Picked another tune from him just a few days ago. Great player!! My #24: Going with a guy who's been around since the 70s as part of one of the best rock bands of all time, and is still playing with them today. Their music has a ton of great solos. Talking about Angus Young, and yes, the band & song is AC/DC – Let There Be Rock

Day 8 o I thought this would be simple as I thought some selections would need whittled down from a lengthy list and would require some relistening on days off, while this would come from a smaller sample of songs. Muppet. Today is the Steely Dan selection and it quickly became apparent I had misjudged the number of songs I was considering. I literally could pick a number and then by tomorrow, even from hour to hour ensuring the solo and the song were favourites. Reeling, Rikki, My Old School, boston Rag, Pearl of the Quarter. I've now settle on two and they're by the same guitarist, from different albums with totally different feel and sensibilities. One album is one that has risen in Pete's ranking over the years, the other is an album many see as weakest from the original batch of albums-
Larry Carlton- Steely Dan- Kid Charlemagne. Third World Man- totally different as you can see. Driving into and home from work today, i was convinced I had settled on Kid. But I've changed my mind. Third World Man just gets to me in a different way and I can't put it into words, but I can feel it. But I could also change my mind when I wake up again.
Day 1- Greg Lake- ELP- Karn Evil 9 Part 1
Day 2 Neil Young- Warren Zevon- Sentimental Hygiene.
Day 3 Peter White/Tim Renwick- Al Stewart- Year of the Cat
Day 4 Steve Hackett- Steve Hackett- Every Day/Spectral Mornings
Day 5 Andy Latimer- Camel- Ice
Day 6 John McLaughlin- Mahavishnu Orchestra- Thousand Island Park
Day 7 Dave Bainbridge- Lifesigns- Last One Home

Hello people! Today's pick is Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. It's a really good solo from Buck Dharma. This is on a lot of lists. My honorable mention is my favorite song by this band. It's Bringing on the Heartbreak by Def Leppard. Steve Clark is on lead guitar. I remember seeing the video for this song on MTV. As always, enjoy the music and take care. 😊

Thin Lizzy – Still In Love With You (live version). Brian Robertsons solo is one of the best I ever have heard and together with Scott Gorhams solo and Phils vocals and lyrics makes the song pure magic.

During covid, I bought nearly 500 CD's mainly from watching this channel to add to my 500 that I already had.. Loved seeing the wall of CD's behind Pete. Since then I have gone thru an illness and quickly realized how priorities change – so I have sold or donated most of my CD's wondering why I ever bought them in the first place. I still do have about 100 of my favorites. Interesting that Pete does not even show his CD's anymore – he shows his closet now along with a few movies from what I see. I wonder if Pete has realized the same, that there is no need to have 10,000+ CD's. The illness does put it in perspective as to what is important – or not important. It did for me anyways.

UFO – No Place to Run (the song). Paul Chapman had huge shoes to fill replacing Michael Schenker but he really stepped up and this solo fits the song perfectly.

Them Bones -Alice in Chains. One of my fave post 1980s songs, and Jerry Cantrell's performance throughout of course including the blazing, intense, fantastic solo blows my mind each and every time.
