As a therapist I advised patients to try AA/NA with an open mind, since it helps some but definitely not all.

As soon as this host says he's been in recovery, for five years, you know this whole thing is inane . Go ahead and join AA–that is, if you don't mind being around a bunch of mostly lower class, mentally ill, anti-intellectual hypocrites, who resent anyone they perceive as being even the slightest bit superior to themselves.

How to quit drinking:
1. Make your drinks smaller, or spread out the drinks so they are less frequent.
2. Rinse and repeat. Doing this every day, eventually you'll be able to not drink at all.

Because it embodies , the mind body and soul . The obsession , the craving and the god sized hole !! Then the fellowship notjing brongs people together more than death is the alternative . I know if i drink im gonna die. I have to start my day with god doing step 1 then doing something for someone else . The doing the next thing right . Apologizing and taking responsibility for my actions when im wrong . Which is often , then i thank god at night .
Trust god , clean house , help others . 6 words that explain the 12 steps simply. Simple program , for complicated people . This is for people that want it , not for those that need it !

AA actually has worse results of recovery compared to hospital treatment or visiting a therapist regularly and a higher percentage of alcoholics get better without any treatment than with AA, suggesting that some of AA’s 5 to 8 percent success rate may simply be nature taking its course. There is also evidence that some people do worse by attending AA. You can read about these matters in the book Debunking the Bad Science Behind 12-Step Programs and the Rehab Industry by Dr Lance Dodes.

I attend AA group and i have to say im tired of the victim mentality. The addiction to drugs opens the gateway of holding you hostage as a victim. Once you step through those door youre a recivering person. That should make you stronger and drop the victims mentality.

I enjoy listening to Jordan talk on different topics and he says a lot of good stuff here. For myself there is zero chance I could have quit drinking without medical intervention. Alcoholics like me do not do it on their own, but they have to want it and take that step to get help. Like anything else you get what you put into it. Meetings are not for everyone, but there has to be a connection to something and a reason not to go back. When he talks about “dropping out” of AA, a lot of people move on to something else that works for their recovery and doesn’t mean they fell off the wagon so to speak, as he says their is really no way to research that. Lots of other non 12 step recovery groups work too, making going to church or the gym can work, new hobbies to meet new people, lots of things can work if you work it. 😂

When I go or if I go back to rehab. I'll tier it apart!!. It does help but everybody is depressed!! Not a happy subject, showing off how long they have been depressed or should I say sober.
This all i said is by being truthful. I'll back up my stupid philosophy and I'll Win. I can give an AI conscious.

Spiritual awakening?? Sudden realization that fiction and reality are one. What governs the Big Book is spiritual energy. Anybody can talk to God and I'm saying ufck this rehab bullshit.

Got sober from drinking in 2004. AA really helped. Never did drugs. Went to meetings upto Pandemic. Twelve Steps saved many lives. Im still sober in 2026.

Could never disagree more. Just take responsibility for your life. AA success is so avery low and the only people doing the surveys are people still in AA. AA may be for some people but not the majority. It’s outdated, makes you dependent. It’s actually destructive.

Saying there isn't an alternative straight off the bat is disingenuous from Jordan. I've nothing against the fellowship, it was nice to have a little schedule in early recovery, but it's far from having the highest success rate of all the recovery methods and simply another tool in the available arsenal.
My issue with 12 step programs is that they too often present things as facts which are unequivocally not.

I stopped going to AA meetings when they started incorporating Grapevine induced Postmodern religion totally destroying whatever credibility local members thought they had. God is the answer for making it.

AA ruins relationships if you aren’t married to the alcoholic. They say, “Sobriety is your partner now.”.
She dumped me even though I quit drinking out of solidarity, whilst her family drank in front of her daily.
AA can eat bag of sweaty sausages.

Aa is very cultish and doesnt even work for the vast majority of people. I grew up in aa thanks to a crazy parent that dragged me to neetings as a teenager. They basically told me i was guarenteed to be an addict because its hereditary lol. Jp has made some good points in the past but he is hardly the intellectual juggernaught he frames himself to be.

AA 12 step program is the only thing I tried that worked for me. I quit time and time again using other methods, but kept starting again. I joined AA in 2005, worked the steps with a sponsor, joined a group and engaged fully. Had a drink in August of 2005, joined AA and haven’t had another for 20+ years. My life is awesome – I’m sober, happy and healthy ❤

Over the past many years, Doctors and institutions have tried many ways to get alcoholics to stop drinking. One bright idea was to convert one section in the hospital to look like a bar, and the alcoholic patients were invited to sit at the bar and have a drink of whiskey from a shot glass attached to a wire. When the alcoholic placed the glass to his lips, the doctor would push a button and electricity would jolt the poor guy.
This procedure worked and the patients were released…but had to return to the hospital after they found a bar that had shot glasses without wires.
