There really is no need to panic over Ai taking jobs. I work in the music industry, and I use Suno A LOT to iterate songs quickly. You may argue that Suno is taking the job from a musician, but, it's actually made jobs for several. I literally hired two new artists to remake the songs I generate and like in Suno, to be like actual professional real songs, and get others to remix those remade songs. Now that I do not have to try and write and demo out everything, we are averaging 20 songs a day rather than a month. A professional makes use of tools and adapts to industry shifts. I used to be a game dev as well. ChatGPT would just be a helpful little tool to debug. Dall-E is just an easy way to visualize ideas. Chill lol.

I’ve worked professionally to develop AI models. I think a distinction should be made between generative ai and ai in general. Generative AI is the least interesting and most potentially destructive areas of AI. For example, AI has been used in psychology research to understand learning mechanisms by creating models that match the learning curves we observe in children. One paper found that giving models a curiosity mechanism was more effective at teaching them to play Atari games (aka learn to navigate an environment and efficiently perform a given task) than an extrinsic reward like game score. Another paper found that they were able to prognose the onset of Alzheimer’s before onset of symptoms, something which is important for us understanding more about how to actually treat it instead of just slowing it down.
To me, AI is a tool for us to use as leverage to more thoroughly understand the world and study things we couldn’t before. Generative AI kinda sucks in my opinion because it’s being used to invert that paradigm.
