This video itself is rich and engaging. I appreciate the depth, thought, intention, and realness that comes through. I’ve had an itch for this kind of authentic engagement with my own life and this video connected with those feelings I couldn’t quite grasp. Thank you for sharing! I’m excited to see where the inspiration takes me. I wish you the best in your continued journey!

Why do we all 'record' the concerts…? We are never going to listen/watch them back.. Enjoy the moment for what it is, you will have a better memory of the concert/sporting event, if you watch/listen/enjoy the moment…! And as much as I love my iPod, I do wish it had expandable storage [easily accessible]

So I bought the iPhone 15 pro two days ago. Now I will send it back and make my old phone to a simple phone and I will read the book digital minimalism. You got me on the right time

Thank you so much for this series. I had a moment the other day when this thought popped into my head: "I miss who I was before smartphones". I'm almost 40 and remember clearly a time before constant scrolling. I was much healthier, left my house more, I was more creative and was much more present. I can't wait to read Digital Minimalism.

Pretty impressed the original hard drive was still kicking. Usually those 1.8" drives devolve into the most bootleg 808s in the world after a couple years. Just one, sad, clicky beat…

I feel your pain about the washers, and I would feel compelled to do anything at all to get around it. I have walked out of many restaurants who show me a QR code instead of a menu. After I chew the manager's ear off about how insecure those damn things are, how I could replace one of their printouts with my own QR code, nobody would notice, and I could infect people's devices, before serving them the menu, and nobody would be the wiser. This is pernicious technology. Same with all the other "just use your smartphone" things. Using a stripped down, degoogled older android is a good compromise. I can still do the "modern" things, if I really must, but there is no (by choice) social media, youtube, music, or games on my phone. It is a comms device.

Yeah, guess what brought you into my YouTube feed! And at the very precipitous moment that I was searching for clarity and direction after having long ago fallen into the digital rabbit hole. I'm 61. I remember! Your videos are such an inspiration! You have no idea how much this helped me. Thank you!

This is the best video I've watched on YouTube in a long time, it actually made me pause and reflect about how I want to be more intentional with my time and attention from now on. I've been thinking about buying an iPod to decouple music listening from my phone for a while now. This video has been the push I needed to give this experiement a try. I want to pay attention to my music again instead of just skipping through all my tracks on Spotify. Would love to see an update from you in a few months time.

the timing of me stumbling across this is super serendipitous! A close friend and me are planning on modifying our iPods (and repairing my turntable) to make music listening more intentional. My (30yo) and my boss (36yo) are likely gonna go create digging sometime soon to find records for the solar showroom he just opened, he has Spotify integrated with the Sonos App but just bought a separate mixer so we can play records through the sound system managed by the app, there's something nice about purposely choosing a record, even if it's just for background music! You're so right about how if services stop hosting the music or go under etc, we lose access to them, Mac Millers mixtape "Faces" got pulled from Spotify for a while due to sample issues iirc and it kinda hit with how much I don't own the music I like, despite paying for a service.
