A half acre is 146' x 146'. The space I saw in this video with planted trees seemed FAR larger than that.

so many videos talk about buying seeds and they all use the same vendors, and me, having been growing plants for decades, decided to grow my own seeds

While you might not know what kind of apples a seedling will produce, if the seedling has a red trunk, the apples will have red flesh.

What I want to know, as a professionell nursery guy from europe, at what prices are you selling those trees? I can buy a 40 cm chestnut (which looks to be close to what you are showing in the video) seedling for less than 2 € every fall.

Would that sand in a wet bucket method for germinating seeds work for other trees like peaches?

Is the chestnut seed you have the natural ones, or the Chinese chestnut. I’m planning on planting Chinese chestnut trees because they can grow in zone 4

The hard labor to me is the easy part I know my ability, is the selling that worries me. I couldn't sell a $10 piece of gold for $5 no salesman skills or luck.

I heard Chestnut Ridge of Pike County is a good place to get them. (I channeled the 'tism and used what little you left un-marked out on the 5lb. bag of chestnuts and google to narrow down the possibilities by the company logo and then go through any possible matches until I found that the name "Chestnut Ridge" would fit nicely on that bag's label, especially since it's the way they did the logo on their website. Too much caffeine today for me I think, and btw great video and idea.)

So obviously you do not let your beautiful cows graze anywhere near these trees. As fruit trees and black locust are toxic to them, but so are many plants I have in my pasture. Btw do you sell walnut trees? I have so many and I love trees so I don't like to just cut them out as baby trees. I have so many honey locusts and hedge trees. My favorites are cottonwood, black willow, mulberry, hackberry and any others that are safe for horses and cows to eat the leaves and graze around.

Check local regs and zones for appropriate trees and what not to plant in your region. Hybrid and asian chestnuts can be a problem, and American chestnut is not appropriate in all areas. Black locust is a wonderful tree but is invasive and can compete with native trees. It is prohibited or restricted in some northeast, west, and midwest states.

I have been growing trees since I was in high school, growing some in my parents yard. As an adult I have been growing pine trees for market, here in the south, for 25 years. I have additionally planted crabapple, persimmon, pear and apple trees and different variety of oaks. I just purchased a few chestnut trees and I am very excited about getting them in the ground. Planting trees is rewarding!
