    ok… checking it out.

yeah. nah. not even in the top 100. saying this is good death doom (let alone best modern or best of the year) is ridiculous. like saying a new Metallica album is "peak death metal" (bit of a hyperbole, but you know what i mean).

this is sugary, sweet, simple, unoffensive, saccharine, cheesy. the 'death' part is some superficial aesthetic coating on the guitars and vocals, and the 'doom' part to them [and you, apparently] means 'play kinda slow'

this isn't even as doomy as the overly romantic UK death doom scene of yore, let alone some "proper" death doom that stinks and tastes like the apocalypse manifested music (as a genre named 'death doom' should)

Great interview. Became a huge fan of Fires in the Distance I saw them open for Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity. Such an amazing show I bought their album right at the show. I dig the new album so much

Not sure about the number of times I push ‘repeat’ from the release date up to June 17. I am listening to this one even while writing this comment. Thank you for the interview with the band. You nailed it and your timing is perfect as well. Thank you, once again!!!

Everytime I say I'm not really into doom, a band like this always reminds me all I need it's a really good doom band to actually like it.
I already listened to circadian promise 4 times, I got more new stuff to check out but I keep coming back to this album.
    Now back to the interview.

I found this one lacking on first listen. The cleans weren't it for me. Felt like they wanted to do something to distinguish this record. But ended up just doing cleans.

Either this new Fires in the Distance album or the latest Godthrymm 'Projections' release is my favorite melodic death/doom album of 2026 so far.. 🤔 …either way, brillant interview, Jon. 👍

I never put this together before but you have the circadian rhythm and then you have the bugs known as cicadas… Connection there? They're on like this big rhythm that makes no sense

Dude, you ARE NATHAN EXPLOSION! I don't know how close you are to the up state of South Carolina, but if you are ever in the area or going to any event or anything that we have like at ground zero for example in Spartanburg, I would love to meet you and have a beer or a shot with you and at least shoot the breeze for a couple of minutes. I really mean that
