11-30-2016 Tomahawk Circle Performs at Marquette Half-time Show
Lac du Flambeau Drum group, Tomahawk Circle Members Desmond Mitchell, Henry Mitchell, Wilbur Mitchell, Blake Awonohopay, Austin Wapoose, and Brian Grignon and Tribal Member, Michelle Reed performed at the 100 Year Centennial Marquette Men’s Basketball Game last week at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee for Native American Heritage Month. The Marquette Golden Eagles were victorious over the Western Carolina Catamounts 90-44. For the past two years the Stockbridge-Munsee Community has facilitated the half-time show for a Marquette game, this year they had Forest County Potawatomi Tribal Member, Brooks Boyd handle the dancers and details, who did a fantastic job of bringing it all together. There were dancers of each style represented from Tribal Communities including Lac du Flambeau, San Carlos Apache, Oneida Nation, Forest County Potawatomi and Ho-Chunk Nation. Royalty from the Oneida Nation and Stockbridge-Munsee were also in attendance.
