Rockstars In Movies: A Masterclass By Jagger
Today I’m trying something new on Justin Hawkins Rides Again: my first Film Review. It’s not a complete departure from my music reaction episodes, as the movie features two musicians – including Mick Jagger who gives a stellar performance. It may have bombed when it came out in the nineties but to me, “Freejack” is a classic and I’m going to explain why.

As for Repo Man.
For those of you not lucky enough to have experience Los Angeles in the 1980's I'd put it like this. To everyone else Repo Man is a great often surreal cult movie. To those of us who got to live the LA of the 1980's – it's basically a documentary.
Apart from the flying car scene in the movie – yeah, that was LA back then. Very true to life. Every character in the movie major and minor. Met people just like them at some stage or other in LA in the 1980's. And some who were a lot lot weirder. No city did weird like LA. Even the punk party scene was straight out of real life. Saw the band playing the party, the Circle Jerks, live a few times. Great shows.
Whenever I get nostalgic for LA and Southland circa 1984 I put on Repo Man yet again. And it all comes back. Its the small details they got so right. So whenever anyone asks me what LA was like back in the 1980's I tell them – Go watch Repo Man. That's what it was really like.

Yeah, we had laptops in 1991. In fact I used my first laptop in 1983. It weighed 11lbs and had a built-in printer. Wonder why that idea never took off. Printers in laptops.
The laptops in 1991 however did not have hi res color screens (VGA 640×480 was as good as it got back then) but did have better keyboards than the one sitting on the Estevez's car dashboard. Which looks like the membrane keyboard found on a cheap microwaves. The ones that stopped working after a year or two.

Anybody remember Light of Day. Michael J.Fox and Joam Jett. Totally underrated and forgotten Movie with Great Music in it

This film is corny, cheesy, ridiculous, and fun as hell. I remember it's original run on cable, and even as teens we mocked it. However, we managed to have watched it again and again. Then I think that I, for one, sort of forgot about it. It's fluff, you know–cotton candy. But once in a great while you get nostalgic for something like cotton candy lol. And then a film like this is especially enjoyable to revisit.

Jagger in Performance(1970) is awesome. Plus the song he does for the soundtrack with Ry Cooder is just great.

Mick Jagger “you can’t get rid of me that easily” the transatlantic accent is something I long for. Super fun film and an amazingly creative. Thanks for this analysis

Couldn't help but laugh – enthusiasm is infectious. So bad it's Good.
How about 1974's DARK STAR – the "spaced out spaceship" to rival the futuristic budget. No expense spared for the Alien.

Brilliant.
I'm really into B/C movies, yet I can't recall ever watching this one.
Another worthy of consideration is House Of Wax, starring Paris Hilton, of all people (Yes, I know she's not a Rock/Pop star!).
It's pants, yet really enjoyable.

If you want to check out a classic sci-fi that doesn't get the love it deserves, check out Nukie. I am sure the soundtrack is decent.

I actually really like this movie. I remember watching it on either Cinemax or HBO when i first got cable when I first moved out on my own. Interesting that Mick and his younger American doppelganger David Johansson were in the same movie. Interesting turn Mick's character turning on the main bad guy and helping Alex. Justin, you should do more of these types of videos.
