Thanks for this. Great modem prog band, one of my favorites for sure. I’ve listened to this album a few times and it is great. But, I have to say I enjoy from silence to somewhere a bit more.
    Keep up the great work!

Also just discovered this group, they really DO scratch that 70s Prog itch. Beautifully produced as well, but still with that gratuitous excess that, to me at least, is perfect prog.

I recommend their From Silence To Somewhere 20 min track from that earlier album – wonderful vocal melodies. They pay homage to Yes and King Crimson as you say, but also very much Gabriel era Genesis. But actually they are their own thing despite the influences. Check out Lars Frederik Frøislie (their keyboard player) and his new solo album which is great too. And also check out the Swedish band Anekdoten, and another Norwegian band Motorpsycho. These bands have moved on from their influences and are making great music of their own.

This is a fantastic album. I couldn`t agree with Edmund Blackadder any stronger. I purchased all the vinyl reissues of the Wobbler cannon last year. And am very pleased with all the records they have released.

I was looking to buy Bobby Womack album and my GF came over to show me she had found a Grateful Dead live album she didn't have. When I left to go see what Rory Gallagher they had, being distracted I grabbed this CD instead of the Bobby Womack, and didn't realize it it until I got home to play my new music.

Best thing that could have happened… Totally digging Wobbler…

I don't think they sound like YES at all, even though the bass is reminiscent of Squire. What I hear is a band who displays a deep history in Prog… There's Genesis, YES, ELP; I hear PFM and Focus… These guys are obviously heavily influenced by the Prog bands that came before them… The Heir Apparent of Prog

All of Wobbler's albums are brilliant, you can't go wrong with any of them. If you haven't heard the Swedish band Hallas, I would suggest them as well. They're more guitar oriented, more like Wishbone Ash or Nektar rather than Yes or King Crimson. Still great, though. Cheers!

I most certainly think you should check out their other albums and I dropped upon this band with the release of their album before this one and I immediately noticed that this is a band that have took an ultimate understanding of what Progressive rock was all about back in its heyday of the long distance dark days of the early seventies. You are one hundred percent right about this particular album sounding more like the music that came out in that magic decade of the 70's in relation to what Yes have churned out for a long, long time in reality. This is a band that go out of their way to play with the instruments we had many moons ago in relation to those we have of today, and it reflects very well in their music they create and is one of the main reasons why this band for me stand out more than all the PROGMATC! acts that are going today.

Regarding the bands production I do put it down to their keyboard player Lars but as you also mentioned they have one hell of a bass player. I have all five albums of this band and they not only emulate what bands like Yes, Genesis and Crimson and ELP were doing all those years ago but take note of their second album Afterglow. It rejuvenates the medieval PROG! that Gryphon made all those year ago as well. Fantastic band and in my opinion the best band by far in progressive rock today, and when I say Progressive Rock I mean that and not PROGMATIC! like many of the other bands are in this world today.

I should also add that the only thing this band could ever do to make me even happier is do 5.1 versions of all their albums. I would most certainly buy everyone of them again. If you are reading this Lars get on with it I certainly know you are capable of doing it and if not try and get Steve Wilson involved in doing the mix.

Wow i have not been so excited by hearing a 'new' band (to my ears) since jumping on board the good ship Riverside some years back. Many thanks for showcasing Barry.

I respect Wobbler a lot but I'm always puzzled by the lack of recognition given to another Norwegian prog band called Airbag. Both bands share the same bass player. Airbag has more of a Floyd vibe while Wobbler is more like Yes. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only Yank who loves Airbag.

Indeed, a wonderful album. The previous album, From Silence To Somewhere, is stunning. The keyboard player, Lars Fredrik Frøislie, has a huge collection of vintage keyboards which you can see on his channel, and he's just released a solo album, Fire Fortellinger, highly recommended. Wobbler are the only neo-prog band who do it for me.

A name that is familiar. I must have checked them out years ago, but don't remember being blown away. A lot of great prog has come out of Scandinavia though.

Great review. I became aware of this excellent band a few years ago and gradually bought their back catalogue. All their albums are of consistently high quality. But they get better with each one. Certainly Dwellers of the Deep is one of their most cohesive and dynamic. But they are all excellent. Prog is in good hands.

Thanks Barry. HUGE 70's prog fan….especially Yes! I will check it out when I get home from work and give you my thoughts on it. Again thanks for the heads up.
