I needed some lego for another hobby of mine where I make molds. I could use the building aspect of lego to build specific sized squares to use to make my molds to create specific sized items. I priced regular legos and for a basic kit with basic blocks to buld a few half foot sized squares, it would have cost well over 100$. So instead I got some unknown generic named brand that look and work exactly like lego off amazon at 1/4 the price. Got a whole bucket for 30$. Lego has an over confidence, greed problem.

This makes me think of the guy who tried to build an actual house out of lego, and he only got like half done, and had spent well more than a normal NICE house would have cost? Gee, I wonder what the problem is…. lol

They didn't even spare the video games, the new Lego Batman game is listed for $70 for comparsion Red Dead 2 was listed as $60 on launch, like any other AAA game but now you're paying 70 for a lego game amazing.

Got my first Lego in age of 27. Bought Old Trafford stadium for $400CAD and same price was in other countries which is surprised me a lot. 3898 pieces and great evenings of building stadium of my favourite team. There were missing parts in it, 46 different pieces. I called toll free number and in 5 days (from Denmar to Toronto )I received package with missing pieces for free and 10%discount for next purchase. After I bought Land Rover and Peugeot around $750cad total and quality is amazing. Then I bought two pieces from CADA: Police car and Hamvee in total $320cad on remote control. There is missing pieces, no customer support, and quality awful. After full build parts can fall off after light touch. So better for me to pay higher price for higher quality and service.

Honeslty I like that the interior bricks are different colors, I thought this was intentional as it makes the instructions easier to follow on large interior portions.

Lego's ALWAYS been too expensive, which is why most of people only had a few sets and perhaps a big box of second-hand, generic Lego to bolster the new stuff.

I used to play with LEGOs as a kid. That was before all the licensing and kits. Now, LEGO is so ubiquitous, I must confess to a sense of LEGO fatigue. ='[.]'=

Grown ass adults complaining about LEGO is hilarious. AFOLs are almost as bad as Disney adults. The reason LEGO is so expensive now is they cater to adult babies instead of actual children, and LEGO knows the adults will pay their ridiculous prices.

i think the filler pieces being diff colours make sense cuz then they save money as they don’t have to create more pieces in a specific colour

I don't hate Lego, I love Lego, that's why I will not support them while they twist their brand.
They forgot what Lego is about. LEGO ARE TOYS.
Lego is now pumping out model kits meant for display only, not designed to be taken apart once completed, pandering to immature adults that will continue to consume their releases no matter how ridiculous the price tags are. And when they come up with products actually designed for children, the gimmicks are just as overpriced.
Lego used to be about CREATIVITY, but now the company heavily relies on brand-recognition and nostalgia of itself and other IPs, literally selling sets to build logos. Licencing is now preferred over inventive original themes. Ninjago, probably the most "fun for kids" theme, is already pushing for pretentious 18+ sets now that the zoomers that grew up with the theme and didn't move on can afford it, it's almost predatory.

And Lego is losing every other aspect of its identity trying to branch out and appeal to other markets ("she built that") that are not children who just want to build a spaceship for less than $30.

casue the people needing their harddrives checked are happy to pay 1k for a set that is for kids…. Its not longer a toy but for collectors.

I stopped purchasing LEGO in general.
I have no problem buying the competition brands.

I have found them that the clones are often better. Where they just miss the mark is IF a part is missing, it is hard to get the replacement.
However, they often have extra pieces.

My sister recently bought some LEGO sets for my nephews these sets are like I think 40 or $50 each and the box shows all these things you can make but it only gives you the instructions for the center image object and then it tells you in the back of the constructions to go to the website to get the other instructions
