The heart of the MAGA movement is immigration and demographic change. It is white conservatives being terrified of becoming a minority in their country. This is what fuels Trumpism more than anything else.

Correct the democrats serve billionaires and a lunatic fringe social issue ideologues that make up 0.01% of the left. The majority of democrat Working families (white ones) that lean Democrat/ left are told they are the problem and are evil. It’s not a great strategy.

1:01:50 and now we have finally had a doctor in Tennessee refuse to treat a newly pregnant woman because the baby was conceived out of wedlock and that is against the doctors religious beliefs. And Tennessee’s government allowed it. This was not some miscarrying woman’s doctors afraid of going to prison for murder and refusing to treat her. This was an explicit denial of medical treatment on religious grounds.

22:04 ever heard of “my body my choice”? Both sides have benefited from that strategy my guy. Ironically, isn’t it a bit simplistic to boil this down to the right? Apparently this guy thinks that we only go to church and shoot guys in rural areas. Never bring this Neanderthal on the show again. Lol

Working class people are ignorant and they’ve been catered to for the last 40 years so when anyone attempts to tell them the truth, they have been given the privilege to ignore it. They are used to only hearing anything from someone trying to sell them something. So anything that isn’t based on convincing them to buy something sounds like an attack to them. Or dismissive.

Funny how he never once mentioned how the American left's ideas for nearly a decade were truly awful. It's like, "Yeah ughhh, well.. when the world broke out into US funded proxy wars on our shift, we ughh… Well, we think our media isn't 'left' enough. Yeah, that's the problem.."

Sure, David. It has nothing to do with the fact the president's son was making crack while daddy pooped his britches. It was probably Trump's fault. Somehow..

The right keeps winning because the left lost their way. The democrats used to be the party of the working class. Not anymore. Bill Mahrer doesn't even recognize his own party now.

I think it's because the US and Europe let in so many migrants that it freaked people out. It felt like they were purposely letting us get occupied. I think that's what really started it.

wait…what? kkkk "How Right-Wing Extremism Created a Post-Truth America"? Am i crazy? cause i remember phrases like "well it's MY truth" caming from "progressives"

He mentions the reasons that the right is winning is Is actually all applicable to the left. Media has a heavy left bias, Social media over the last 5 or 10 years has heavily helped the left and curtailed the ability of the right to communicate In the public square. And gerrymandering with all of the illegal immigrant population adding 20 to 30 Seats in the house as well as Is bolstering the left in the presidential election.

This guy must have his head so far up there he can see the max of his teeth.

That's hilarious. This 10000 m view is Reasonable only if he's blind and hallucinating.

He is out of touch with reality which also happens to be the reason why the left is losing to the right

The right keeps winning because it's the correct position to take. You lefties had your opportunity and you've destroyed every nation you've been allowed to run in record time. France, England, Canada, Australia, Ireland… all collapsing under the weight of leftism's idiocy. Every leftist run US city is a hollowed out shell of what it used to be. Why is the right winning? Because the left has always belonged to losers.

Lest anyone assume based on what I’m about to say, I am a liberal, but since when did Trump not win the 2024 popular vote? Also, I’d much rather have had a much more qualified guest to have this discussion with. Pakman may be popular, but he’s hard to take seriously.

Gerrymandering happens on both sides LOL. Acting like it’s just republicans is hilarious. “It’s only bad if they do it” just like the filibuster and nuclear option.

The right attacks marginalised groups and minorities, the left (not abandoning their morals) defends them…the argument becomes "why do dems love trans more than americans". It plays the game on Maga terms.

Here's the formula. Offer promises, sell dreams, us vs them, exploit weaknesses and fears. Conservatism and progressivism are survival tactics, so strike a balance between appearing tried and tested and bold and innovative. The biggest currency is trust. Once you've gain trust and with it power, screw your believers over. Stay busy, distract them with one hand and take with the other, use scape goats. Until people wise up, sale tactics are more effective than genuine politics. It works so well, a businessman man can work his way to the very top, transcending the game of positive wealth. At the very top is negative wealth in the form of debt. But it would be entirely disastrous if everyone followed their lead it. And so 'kings' are born. Those who slipped through, exploited weaknesses and the network of trust, free from collective responsibilities.

For everything there is a season. In this one there are several. And God said "Let there be a fix for kitchen table table needs" Finally, the MAGA right is a Cult. It won't visit us for a long stint. Has it won in the courts so far?

The right keeps winning because the left won't sue every time a far-right news media outlet smears their name. If they sued like Trump does, they would start to watch what they say when they lie.

29:06 are there really places where there are only two activities, church and gun shooting? I think of these places as having outsized emphasis on high school football as well. Are these places where the children ride school buses for an hour to get to school 40 miles away, so football isn’t a thing for them? I suppose bake sales and county fairs are boiled into the other things. I have always lived in bustling places, cities, suburbs, or micropolises, so maybe I don’t have a good frame of reference, but it sounded a bit jaded to say there were only two things to do.

To me, the whole conversation felt like David is struggling to come to terms with how the left lost. He seems to cope by framing it as a matter of the right being simpler, more easily persuaded, while the left is too nuanced and sophisticated to win with slogans. It feels like he’s still not fully accepting the loss.

Also, saying there were so many new young voters this time, as if last time, when Biden won, there weren’t any 18 years old, is a new level of denial. Every election brings a new wave of young voters. That’s nothing new.

To address “media literacy” on a podcast episode with so many factually-inaccurate assertions from the guest, is irony at its finest. Ground News is a sponsor, correct? Alex should have visited the site immediately after conducting this interview to research ALL of Pakman’s claims, such as “the Trump administration ignored court orders,” to quickly ascertain that this was just one of many false statements from Pakman. Perhaps you could gift a Ground News subscription to Mr. Pakman so he can get his “facts” straight.

They are too stupid to make a machine. It is an uneducation machine, a book burning machine, a skin color machine, all built from decades of "conservative" values and religion.

Democracy is very fragile, and the electorate is easily fooled by political factions that have an alliance with wealthy power brokers. The wealthy are like the new monarchs. Politicians are in many ways puppets of these new monarchs.

trump won vs hillary cause it was hillary
but as far as the us govt has been in my lifetime(born 1974)…. it feels like they end up doing the opposite of what the people really want or even care about at the moment
…it like we know everyone is talking about that one thing but we decided to do this and everyone thinks wtf that have to do with anything?

I know this came out before the Epstein stuff, but given all of the Conservative pushback I would question the claim that the driving factor of MAGA is loyalty to Trump.
