    Don't knock Dr Lobe.

    And don't assume the aliens are organic. AI droids don't metabolize energy like organic species and exist outside the parameters assumed for intelligent life. This object changed colour from red to vivid green following it's encounter with a solar flare.

    If a spacecraft, it is surveying the solar system from where it is SAFEST – AVOIDING THE PLANET WITH NUKES. It comes closer to the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter with its moon system – like MUCH closer – than what it does to Earth. It passed directly through part of the asteroid belt enroute and will traverse a different section early next year.

    But just in case there's perihelion shenanigans … I've preemptively taken out a Gaylien Probing insurance policy, all of which are invalidated by non-consent.

    Aliens could come in so many varieties and conditions, requiring specific reactions from us to preserve our species, even if they're far advanced. They could be exhausted, injured, or sick, barely alive after so many years of space travel. But while resting and healing, perhaps looking adorable or something like teddy bears, they might glean our soft spots to attack or exploit them later, threatening our existence without our knowledge. That's only one of many examples, too numerous to count.

    Two things that always gets me about alien invasion plans is the idea that because they have the ability to cross interstellar space they must, inherently, be centuries more advanced than we are.

    But as you said at the end, their technology would be, incomprehensible. advancement in one area of science and technology does not automatically beget advancement in all.

    For a moment, imagine a scenario, where in 50 years, a scientist working on a next generation Nuclear Fusion reactor, and accidentally folds his lab into subspace… and it reappears on the other side of the solar system between where earth and the moon will orbit in 6 months. So for 4 months, everyone just assumes, woops implosion… then we see it… the whole lab, floating in space. for the next 5 years we reverse engineer it, and discover a way to controllably fold space and "JUMP" great distances in a instant. 5 more years, we have used this "jump drive" to successfully jump out past pluto in a single jump. 10 years later, we are jumping star to star. thats a life time. In that same timeframe, do you think all of our other technology would shoot millennia ahead because we discovered a new realm of science no one thought possible in 2025? Or would the world of 2095, be more similar to 2025 than not.

    After all, How much has changed since 1925, you can decide right now to move your hand controller, click a button, type less than 100 characters and buy a transportation ticket to Australia, and you can watch a play at the Sydney Opera House less than 24 hours after deciding to do so in your suburban Texas home. Meanwhile you still live in a box made of processed trees, have a k-9 for a pet, and drive a petroleum burning vehicle not so different from your grandfather.

    We like to Imagine that the future is radically different than the now, but when you were in High School I bet you thought 2025 would be way more different from the world of the 90s than it is. People still shop at the mall, there is still a cinnabun next to the hot topic and there is a subway and a chinese food stall in the food court. Sure you work as a Youtuber a job that was incomprehensible to Teenage Joe Scott, but its the job you have, and is it that different from someone with a TV show? Write a script, film it, edit it, send it out for people to watch.

    Secondly, maybe life is very different from us, maybe… just maybe… Alien life just doesn't care about Humans at all. They come to earth, we try to talk to them, they scratch us behind the ears, say good boy, feed us a food cube, then go on about their day. We like to think of ourselves as the Apex of life on earth, and maybe we are, maybe we aren't, maybe they are here to talk to whales, or octopus, or sharks, or don't care about life at all, and just wonder why these monkeys keep barking at them and following them around, if we were truely intelligent we would communicate with pheromones and hand signals.

    One of the best probe (pun fully intended) into possible exraterrestial visit scenario was definitely Arrival. Absolutely love the movie for many reasons but one of the main ones was that humanity acted prettty much exactly how we would irl (excluding the time perception gift I guess).

    Always felt like if aliens would attack us, it would be for wood. That's assuming that for them rarity=value.

    Secondly, any peace loving civilisation advanced enough to get here would see us as brutes and probably avoid us. That's assuming there's some form of non-interference policy.

    Lastly, For a hostile civilisation, we won't even know it when they hit us.

    What about a "District 9" or "Alienation" scenario? Yeah, they arrive in an interstellar starship, but they're refugees, galactic "boat people". They don't have any control over the automated ship, and are the bottom of whatever passes for a social order.

    Aliens are here for thousands of years but they give a fuck to people. They just keep their agenda silently ignoring us, except doing occasional contacts.
    Because communicating with such aggresive species as human would pose many risks. And therefore they won't share with us no scientific or cosmological knowledge until mankind evolve high enough to not abuse it. Unfortunately, not in this century.

    i had a dream that these aliens, we saw as our. guardian angels etc.
    they only come when they reset everything, basically everyone dies ( except animals, and some people with enough karma points )
    for those, they will ascend and live forever happily.
    our conscience will be collected and we will be put back on earth, starting all over. if you did pretty well you will become an animal.

    if the aliens have the tech and resources to travel between the stars or galaxies in quick enough for it to be practical to do so
    … then they are well beyond what Earth can do, even in the unlikely event Earth somehow became coordinated enough to unite in a common front.

    Allow me to posit a hypothesis; the reason why we have advanced and exist as such a technologically advanced civilization, is because either there is no other intelligent alien life, or there is, but it's too far away to come to Earth, leaving us unharmed. Space travel is just that inconvenient and acts as a natural barrier to alien planetary ecosystems getting entangled with one another in general.

    But then again, every pattern in nature repeats. Which implies there should be alien life out there. So I think there must be, but it's too inconvenient for it to meet us, and it's probably likely to resemble life on Earth to some extent. It will likely be prone to infighting as much as us and other species on Earth.
