Trivium’s Drummer Situation Just Took an Unexpected Turn
Just days before their massive Aftershock Festival performance, Trivium shocked fans by parting ways with longtime drummer Alex Bent — a move that sent the metal community into chaos. But instead of canceling, the band pulled off the impossible.
Sepultura’s powerhouse drummer Greyson Nekrutman learned the entire Trivium set in just two days and crushed it live on stage. Fans assumed he had the gig locked in — until Trivium made another surprise announcement.
In a brand new statement, the band has officially confirmed their new drummer: Alex Rudinger — formerly of Whitechapel — a musician they nearly recruited nine years ago.

Don’t not forget Paul Wandtke. At this point it seems like Trivium is just destined to keep rotating drummers and that says more about the band than anything else

Rudinger surely is one of THE best drummers in the rock and metal game. Nothing but respect here. But I doubt he´ll be part of the band for very long. Maybe stepping in for now, recording the drums for the next album to come and then doing the subsequent touring. I have been following Alex for quite a couple of years on YT and in the most recent years he really stepped up his game, gets probably asked out a lot by different bands and doesn´t stay in the band too long. However, I´m sure he´ll do an exceptionally great job on the drums.

Greyson obviously couldn’t play the songs well. As he can’t play the Sepultura songs the right way. There is always something missing.

Alex bent was their best drummer when it comes to a post Travis Smith era. He brought out the best musically for them in my opinion and after 9 years unless it is a firing I am shocked that he's gone. I hope Alex gets another major gig in a major band because talent like that cannot be sidelined. Trivium need to reconsider their stratergy with drummers because all this chopping and changing had seen a bit of a regression from the band after the highs of Shogun.

Well, I can't really give an honest criticism on this one, because even though I have heard of Trivium, in all honesty I really don't know much about them. But I do know that the drummer from Soulfly if I heard right, but he's a heck of a skins basher. And the other fella that they've mentioned that supposedly is someone they've known for awhile, and had been a friend from awhile back I know nothing about him either, but the long and short of it is, Trivium and it's members have the right to choose who they think would best fit their style, and do the job best. So hopefully they've made the right decision. But again, I do know that the drummer from Soulfly is definitely one badass dude on the drums!!! (Ernie Wilber) 🤟💀🤟✌️

Woth all due respect it was fairly obvious from the bands comments, schedule and Greysons commitments for next year that this was just a fill in deal. Atleast they came to a more permanent decision quickly, how long this lasts noe who knows though

ALEX is the new drummer??? He can do all that technical stuff and more, that's for sure. I've been following him for years.
