Trevor's stand up is really funny to me and glad he left the Daily Show as I did not like him on there at all and really turned me away from the show for his period, but God damn do I love his stand up

Man, i completely relate to trevor 41:00. It took me years to try to open up and eventually i did for someone. Absolutely amazing for 8 years until she had a random psychotic break with full on auditory hallucinations and even visual occassionally that she never came out of. I lived with her for another year trying to get her help. Her hallucinations made her think i was gaslighting her, like maiking a weird sound and then stopping when she came to check on it. Asked me to kill her one night when she thought people were poking her really painfully hard in the back. Stabbed me in bed asleep with a piece of rebar bs she thought i was an imposter among many other things… it broke me down mentally and i got down to like 127 lbs as a 5'11.5 guy from my normal 160 or 170. Still wake up every 30 minutes to 1.5 hours like clockwork all night every night since. Long story but i ended up not helping her and she left while her family did nothing to help.

Trevor, you’re also Autistic my friend. Everything you describe is more Autism sprinkled with ADHD.

Take a look, it’s part of your blueprint that makes your mind so beautiful.

I highly recommend Trevor Noah's autobiography, Born A Crime. It's a fascinating read that is by turns funny, tragic, up-lifting, and typifies the strength of the human spirit.

The idea that racism is finished and it’s get better is wrong came home to me when reading a book about the 1960s struggle to vote .
In that book it showed so clearly how many many more black got to vote immediately after the civil war that in the 1920s it was becoming harder to vote by English tests and gerrymandering.

As a white person Australian 61 old lady I find the idea that black people don’t like antiques so strange .
my parents were working class ten pound poms never rich but we didn’t want for anything.
However I love old stuff solid wood, vintage China ,and buy most of handbags from charity shops.
I am middle class now ,Doctors wife and I find it hard to understand that Trevor doesn’t like old stuff most new stuff is total crappy laminate ikea rubbish.

I'm white and here is my story about the only time I felt someone was being racist towards me. I was working delivering CanPages (an old phonebook like the blue pages) with my sisters Cambodian Husband and his friend (he was Vietnamese) in British Columbia. They were Canadian, their parents immigrated (they spoke perfect English). While driving around we got on the topic of what we were gonna do with our money after the contract was done. The Vietnamese dude said he wanted to buy houses and renovate them by putting carpet in, because white people like carpet. Then they realized I was there and it was awkward until until said "I do like carpet though." I guess carpet is a white people thing.

I so relate to what Trevor shares, one of my most regrettable moments because the other person flipped out on me , was when we were walking together and they were telling me something about their thoughts about schooling. I was listening , but then there was a chipmunk running along side us and I said, “Hey, look, a chipmunk.” I was still paying attention to them but they didn’t think so and went nuts screaming at me.

    this piece hit me:

"be a more honest version of yourself, but also prepare yourself for the fact that you'll be a more alone version of yourself for a bit–the more you are you, the fewer people match up with you. If you are a one-size-fit-all cap, you're going to fit all heads, and stretch in al different directions. And when people put you back down you don't even know what you are."

This was a super interesting, helpful, and insightful podcast for me. At 56 years old i've finally been told i have ADHD (as if that was ever a real question!), by my therapist. Assessment is set for March 2025. Thank you for an awesome podcast. SUBSCRIBED 🙏

Trevor's neurodivergence is %1000 why he felt his mom was a bad communicator. I dont think she was a bad communicator, I just think Noah needed a different style of communication. And the fact that Noah identified that in himself and was able to propose a modified approach to their current communication is astounding. I miss seeing him on my television all the time, and I hope he is doing well in every way.

also love how well Neal listens, and asks good questions, and adds to the understanding of us crazy humans, nice to see both of you being vulnerable and Real , and showing how that has allowed a beautiful friendship between you. Great role models for other men, and other humans who are healing from a traumatized world. Thank you for this podcast and this conversation!

Brilliant conversation I learn SO much , and always do from Trevor's understanding of human nature…..Love the bond btw Neal and Trevor…, So helpful that insight about how all conflict is.a breakdown of communication, how listening is so important, and how writing to each other allows one to get clear and really hear what the other is saying.

    Oh Trevor, My Love,
I’m from New York. My parents have an exposed red brick wall that runs the entire length of the house. I believe that every room in your home should have at least one substantial antique and one antique decor piece. I love antiques and the patina of them. Oh wait, I was born somewhat privileged. You win again!!! Lol. And my name is Kenya. 😮
