I was a Blackberry fan. Hated so much the idea of transitioning to touchscreen devices, but as soon as I got an iPhone in my hands, I knew there was no way going back. Good memories, though.

Technically, Blockbuster first started in the mid-80s. 2000s was when Blockbuster started to hit its stride until it fell apart when Netflix stole the company’s thunder.

I would replace Blockbuster with Redbox on this list, since Blockbuster was founded in the 1980s, while Redbox was founded in the early 2000s as a DVD rental kiosk in drugstores. Sad both companies were killed by Netflix.

    8) Wesabe wasn’t a precursor to anything. By the time it was launched, PayPal had already been around for over half a decade and open to the public for a few years – and already quite widespread.
    4) My first ever laptop was a Compaq. I don’t even remember its specs (likely laughable compared to those of my current laptop), but one thing is for sure: unlike modern computers, my Compaq and PCs in general were *sturdy* — I bought that laptop in 2000 and it lasted me until 2008 or 2009, showing zero issues until the last couple of years. Anyway, the brand is not that much of a footnote; HP is still producing plenty of computers under the Compaq brand.
