Those videos are NOTHING like home movies. The intent behind them is different, and the way the parents think and act are different when they know they will be posting them online, especially if they HAVE to make money on them because they made this their job. Those videos are exactly what you said, they’re made for views and to go viral and to make them money. Because I know for a fact they wouldn’t be doing that shit if they weren’t getting attention or money.

Any time they get too many members who have taken all of the courses, bought all of the books, progressed through all of the teachings (AKA when Scientology can no longer make money off of them), the cult will just be like "oh actually all of that stuff was wrong, here's the REAL scripture" and make them do it all over again looool

i have vivid memories of my dad recording me crying and thinking it was funny when i was younger. it permanently altered the way i process my emotions as an adult and i've spent YEARS unpacking stuff like that in therapy. i cannot imagine how much worse it would be if it was posted online for so many people to see.
