emotional rescue should be on the 'worst list' and Its Only Rock n Roll taken off. Is got the great title track, till the next goodbye, dance little sister, if you cant rock me, aint to proud to beg etc etc..

Ok let's be honest now. THE one rubbish album is Dirty Work… absolutely. Poor albums are… Between Buttons, Black Blue, Tattoo You, Undercover, Steel Wheels. Later albums after Wheels ok for ageing rockets.

someone once said: "the Rolling Stones will go down in history." i couldn't agree more. turgid pub blues rock with Charlie Watts just about saving their face.

If the Rolling Stones were to release something like It's Only Rock & Roll today – it would be celebrated as a miraculous return to form. Nothing wrong at all with that album, and it contains Luxury – a very underrated Stones track.

Dirty Work is also better than anything released after Tattoo You. It doesn't deserve the abuse heaped on it. Last album they sounded aggressive on.

It's Only Rock 'n Roll is my favorite Stones album. Side one is particularly strong: Times Waits for No One, the title track, If You Can't Rock Me, Til the Next Goodbye….Side two has some great tracks as well IMO. I was a teenager when this came out, it likely was my 1st Stone's album purchase, so I may be biased.

I like Satanic Majestie's, Sing altogether is a pretty poor throwaway stoned jam but the rest is pretty good. Like a Rainbow and 2000 Light years are classics.

People love it but I always thought Black and Blue was awful.

Their worst… in no particular order:

    Black and Blue
    Dirty Work
    Bridges to Babylon
    Blue and Lonesome
    Hackney Diamonds

    I really like everything else.

Real stones fans do play all these albums back to back, even tho i do agree with you, i do play all these all the time, love to play their worst albums❤ absorbing the real stones vibe, only the die hard stones fans get it.

I sort of agree with this list, with one exception, It´s Only Rock´n´Roll has always been a bit of a favorite of mine, I´ve had that album for a long time and although it´s not one of my most favorite Stones albums, it´s better than being among the ten worst albums. I would rather have put the 1980 album Emotional Rescue in the last ten instead of It´s Only Rock´n´Roll.

I agree with the majority of what you’re saying here, but I would have to put Hackney Diamonds as the worst as IMO the artificial sounding production techniques that you mention on both that & Foreign Tongues spoil both records. Also, Voodoo Lounge isn’t perfect admittedly, but it has some absolute corkers on it.

I too would include Foreign Tongue in my top 10 list of worst Stones albums. It contains several good songs but the slick, much too trebly production makes it close to unlistenable to me. However, I have a weak spot for Bridges to Babylon, inspite of the "modern" production. It’s a bit too overlong though.

Of the 60s albums, Rolling Stones No 2 should definitely be bottom 10. However, that is a UK album, not one that was released in the US. It depends on which album releases we are including. I find it lacks the sparkle of The Stones debut, and the covers, for the most part, seem less inspired, plus The Stones own compositions like ''What A Shame'' and ''Grown Up Wrong'' are hardly memorable. Not truly bad, but the odd one out, for me, of those early energy infused releases. It is difficult with Hackney Diamonds because as much as i do like it, is it really better than It's Only Rock 'N' Roll and Emotional Rescue, which are also albums i think are both vying for a place just outside the bottom 10? The songs on both perhaps do lack the consistency of Hackney Diamonds (and especially It's Only Rock 'N' Roll, with a couple of notable exceptions), but on Emotional Rescue especially, the high points seem more notable, and the production sound is better and not overwhelming. It's Only Rock 'N' Roll in retrospect does indicate where the Stones would be heading post Tattoo You, with that lack of conviction, and focus, where the songs and their arrangements seem a little more hollow, and don't stand up so well to repeated listens. However, it still contains the swagger found in the classic period. Is Hackney Diamonds also better than Out Of Our Heads (US or UK versions) or Black And Blue? The more i think about it the more i think just maybe Hackney Diamonds may belong in the bottom 10. I think It's Only Rock 'N' Roll does, too – just! To call these albums the worst may be a little misleading. I'd tend to call them less great. If The Stones have released, say, 25 studio albums, being just outside the top 15, doesn't necessarily signify how bad they are. Being in the bottom 5 might a little more.

Generally I would say everything after Some Girls is suspect. Most albums on this list are there with reason. Glad to see that Hackney Diamonds and Foreign Tongues are there. You said true things about their poppy commercial production that removes all original Stones grittiness. Many viewers already commented It's only Rock and Roll doesn't belong on this list. Okay the album has some weak songs. I like however Fingerprint file. Majesties Request is also a mixed quality album. Some stinkers on it (your words) but on the whole has strong points.

At least 10 worst albums sounds too much. There are no really awful ones but if I had to live without ever listening some of their albums from now on… Blue and Lonesome and Bigger Bang I could do easily without, would be the two worst in my opinion. Their Satanic Majesties was a long time ago really interesting to hear, but it has not really been a return back album for me anymore. Dirty Work is certainly one of the weakest both by song material and especially production, love some alternative mixes of the songs much more than album versions. After those four it becomes difficult to name any. I do not often listen through albums before Aftermath, but I love to hear songs from those albums, most songs are great. Of underrated era albums, love almost everything they did between 1974 and 1997. Hackney Diamonds is again good, and Foreign Tongues even better.

The only real "stinker" on the list is Dirty Work and that is probably due to WW III being at full pitch. Still, even a "bad" Stones album will yield a classic song or two. It's laughable. A lot of the so-called bad albums by the Stones are better than most bands best work. I bet a lot of bands would happily take the sales numbers of each record on this list.

Dirty work is a classic album. One hit to body is an oustanding classic. Undercover is a good album too. Title song, She was hot and and Too much blood just wonderful. Experimental and fun.

These are certainly not bad albums, but they sure are patchy. "Undercover" to me is a great album. "Pretty Beat Up" is one of their dirtiest grooves, check it out if you don't know it

I don’t pay much attention to the music of the Stones after Tattoo You. I think their best era was from the beginning until the early 80’s. Nothing compares to the classic albums and recordings. 😎
