We look for aliens in all kinds of ways; through telescopes, in radio signals etc., but what if the answer to the existence of alien life has been right in front of us this whole time – on the moon? A new theory suggests exactly that. Today we explore that topic, along with questions about weird animal habits, the shifting of Tornado Alley, throwing our trash into volcanoes, and the legacy of the Space Shuttle, all on this month’s Lightning Round video.

12:20 Tiny droplets of water you can't even see can cause devastating steam explosions if you don't make sure your molds are completely dry when you cast metal. So yeah, flash boiling water in anything even resembling a confined space is never going to end well.

Is there life on the Sun It is very very old? I call it Photonicgenesis, they are made up of course Photonic cells. If this where true that makes the sun a planet and we are the moons going around it.

Fun fact about what kinds of content is liked, there's a weird phenomena in media that is like the miniskirt index. Basically, the worse things are the more upbeat and escapist a lot of media has tended to be while when things are good we tend to prefer darker media. I know this is true for myself as during the Obama years I read loads of super dark fantasy and these days I read almost exclusively cozy fantasy. I do wonder how this is going to continue as our media consumption habits become more sophisticated, though. Will the trend continue or will people start wanting media that more accurately reflects our times?

I just went to see Wildwood (everyone should see it) and it was amazing but super dark and I feel the need to tell people that given… reality… so they can choose if they want to experience that right now. I chose yes and I'm extremely glad I did but not everyone will.

Do you think there is any options that would either allow for reasonable faster than light or a workaround for the problem?
Aliens exist but they’re far away.
Let’s add the probability that faster than light is possible to the Drake equation

    Fun Fact:
1 million years is approximately 1 million earth years in the history of the universe.
A blink of an eye is a blink of an eye…in the history of the universe, which takes approximately 0.25 seconds, aka 250 milliseconds, on average.
So, in our current human situation, 1 million years ≠ 1 blink of a human eye. Factor in very high speeds, holes that are black, stars made of neutron matter, and/or other fast/heavy things, then maybe 1 million years ≈ 1 blink of a human eye as we know it. Until then, I'm sorry.

You're absolutely wrong on the first item Joe, it's just the reverse! You have to realize that time existed long before us, and we are proof that life finds a way and proliferates exponentially!

So, the admission by the Pentagon that the navy and air force have been encountering UAPs regularly, interfering with their training missions, having near misses, tracking them at 1000s of miles an hour and making 90 degree turns without signs of hyper destructive G-forces or making sonic booms; All without flight surfaces or heat signatures or other signs of normal propulsion doesn't rattle your cage? Not even the tranches of 60+ years newly declassified files and photographic evidence?
Why would they lie? To prepare us for a pretend war with aliens?
Well, apparently they HAVE been lying to us since before the Roswell crash, and promoting the belief that only whackos see non-human craft, so why not.
But even the loud-mouth Neil DeGassy Tyson has finally opened his eyes, I'm surprised and a little disappointed in you Joe.

"What if, instead of discovering life throughout the universe, humanity is the beginning of spreading life throughout it?"

Well, in that case, the chances of life spreading throughout the universe seem more and more slim with every passing day…

    The question of "hidden fingerprints"….
I think we are going to find DNA of more ghost populations including finding more evidence in living humans that some of these "ghost populations" still exist!🪏🦴🧬🧌👨🏻‍🏫

I loved the Atlantis exhibit at Kennedy Space Center, I'm tall enough the I could actually reach up and just about touch it, not sure I was meant to but it's quite a trip to touch a real spaceship.

Joe, I think you may have misunderstood the question about dirt and DNA. I suspect the viewer was referring to environmental DNA (eDNA), a fascinating and increasingly useful technique for detecting organisms without having to capture or even observe them.

Instead of collecting DNA directly from an animal, researchers sample the environment—soil, seawater, freshwater, sediment, etc.—and analyze the genetic material organisms leave behind. It’s opening up remarkable possibilities for discovering and identifying species, particularly in places that are difficult to explore.

For example, deep-ocean eDNA sampling has revealed evidence of cephalopod diversity in environments where these animals are rarely observed.

Another interesting application involves the search for Orang Pendek, a legendary, upright-walking, apelike cryptid reportedly inhabiting the forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. One longtime investigator, who has spent years searching for it without success, has discussed using environmental DNA sampling on a future expedition. Rather than looking for footprints, hair, or direct sightings, the idea is to examine the forest environment itself for genetic evidence of an unidentified primate.

Of course, finding unfamiliar DNA wouldn’t automatically establish the existence of a cryptid, but it could provide a fascinating new avenue of investigation.

I think that’s probably what the viewer was getting at. It’s a fascinating subject, and one I’d love to see you explore in a full episode of Answers With Joe!

There’s evidence there here on earth crazy how people will just believe one person and not another, especially if their credentials are almost identical. Why would somebody ruin their career to lie to you?

Other life in our visible universe is not a mathematical certainty, as we don't even know how life started. As far as we know, we are in what seems to be a huge expanse, yet is infinitesimal compared to the infinite realms that could be out there, beyond what we will ever see.

  14. @kevinkent6351

    October 26, 2026 at 11:23 pm

Definitely not mathematically certain there is intelligent life out there right now. I was playing around with Claude and an advanced Drake equation-like analysis and using small tweaks to inputs gets you anywhere from 1% chance of existing intelligent life in the universe right now (besides us) to 100% chance. Whatever it is, it’s absolutely not mathematically certain. The universe is gargantuan but the filters are brutal.

    October 26, 2026 at 11:23 pm

3:52 a million years is more like a little more than 2 days if you scale the universe down to an 80-year human lifespan. Still short, though not quite the equivalent of a blink of an eye lol.

Edit: this is of course only taking into account the age of the universe now, not the entirety of how long the universe will be around, which as far as we know, will be forever.

Stop calling them Aliens, go back to the good Extra-Terrestrial, or embrace the new Non-Terrestrial. The term alien has been cheapened and ridiculed enough, that is why many struggle with taking it seriously and have to make long winded explanations or disclaimers about their stance. If a word makes it so that you have to preemptively prop the subject up before you can engage in conversation about the topic in a serious manner, use another term!

21:03 prediction we’ve reached the level of response from Cyanobacteria layers rising to rebalance what all is becoming from the carbon and other petrochemical releases we’ve exposed back into the world. These items were trapped within the earth and now being freed 🙏

If alien life was discovered I reckon there would be another huge influx of engineering applications for higher education. Everyone would wanna become a space engineer or astronaut or any job that gets you close to being able to go space

One of the big reasons I'm doing civil engineering is to be hopefully able to work on another planet or in space building large structures

Even if there isn't intelligent life outside of Earth in this galaxy there are still trillions of other galaxies. Other galaxies could be full of life and we would never know. But if we truly are all alone then the universe is a giant waste of space.

Lol wondering why r/tornado is top result is kinda funny

Since alot of info can be found through Reddit. Because the Reddit posts usually link directly to actual scientific papers.

The amount of tech help I've had through Reddit is wild

Honestly, they're here. The amount of evidence is immense. We didnt think flying was possible >100years ago… why couldnt the tech to travel star to star in reasonable time also be a tech we will one day be surprised is possible..?
