One of the channels played this episode during Halloween. I s*** you not. There was a literal warning warning people to not even drink anything while watching this episode, let alone eat

I knew it would be Home. I saw it for the first time when I rewatched the whole series 10-15 years ago. It was one of the few I missed in the original airing. I watched the show religiously, but even the biggest fans missed a few episodes in the broadcast era. I always think it's funny that this was one of the few I missed.

I was traumatized by this episode as a child and have never forgotten it. When I think of X-Files this episode pops up as one of my first memories. Super unsettling.
My mom dropped the ball on this one lol.

God, this episode haunts me still. It was one of my first X-Files episodes ever, on a SciFi Channel rerun, and has always been the one that shows up in my fever nightmares 😅

At some point I watched the whole series, and I remember this episode for how unsettling it was. Another one that comes to mind is where there's bacteria or something in the trees and all hell breaks loose.

9:44 I'm pretty sure it wasn't just the oldest brother who impregnated her. Remember Mulder's earlier theory about all 3 of them being the father? And how all 3 of them are in the room and taking their shirts off during… that scene?

I love the X-Files, but not this episode. 😆

My favourite X-files episode is "Folie a Deux" season 5 episode 19. I hardly ever see anyone talking about it (especially nowadays after that was what they named the terrible Joker sequel) but it genuinely freaked me out when I watched late at night when I was a teen. It will require some censorship or careful edits around certain parts though as YouTube would throw a fit otherwise.

Just saw "Home" for the first time, then noticed this in my Watch Later. "Man that episode's vibe was really off tonight, I wonder if that could be the one she's talking about…"

another one I remember disturbing me a bit was the one with the witch doctors. doctor witches? doctors who are also witches and one of them is Ben Horne. mostly because it surprised me how graphic it was. I was not expecting to see, among other things, the results of someone's face being melted off with acid on a network TV show from the 90s.

No supernatural stuff. NOT what I was looking for turning on an X-files episode.

I recorded the whole series back in the day, and re-watched them all, including this one.

    once.

After that I always skipped it.

Also: it reminds me of the episode of Supernatural that was so bad it's a major reason I decided to stop watching supernatural: the hillbilly episode where it was just a weird family, just like this one.

Alright, so my prediction is this is either going to be Wrong Turn or The Midnight Meat Train. Or both. Probably both.

Wait, why did you make this about race…?

Yup, it's Wrong Turn. Dunno where that red herring implying a dark secret the sheriff knew was about. Actually, I guess Wrong Turn is this since this came first.

As I am hearing the opener from PUR im immediately going its gonna be home… but then i self doubted because home is very disturbing, but its not hard to find, i mean it was easily findable on streaming now, and it was in my old DVD box sets, i remember it being available on VOD service from adelphia back in the day when VOD was a thing. which then made go oh jeez what was worse than home that they would attempt to hide it… then i saw it in the video when she mentions it on disney plus and immediately my reaction was… Thats not hard to find! its home anyone with a passing fascination of the X-Files or just saw the show when it was airing knows about the home episode, what are they going to say the DPO is offensive to electricity or Ghost in the machine satirizes AI now.

Yup, I watched this when it first aired and yup, it very thoroughly creeped me out. I don't remember hearing about it being banned but it doesn't surprise me at all 😖 (shudder)

sigh, remember when this episode aired on TV….. always found it disturbing.
Not gonna lie, back when this show aired, I actually liked rewatching the show when it repeated at 11 PM and not the original 9 PM airing. There was this energy from knowing it's a "monster of the week" and even back then I knew it's not the MOST Scary episodes, because it's network TV. The NYC/Tri State area Fox affiliate would repeat the episode the broadcasted episode, But yeah they didn't air this episode on Syndication and instead with friends we would just go "remember the in breeding episode?" And then everyone would, that was scary!

How as a kid had i never seen an episode of x files until I accidentally tuned into this one that only aired TWICE and never watched one again because it scared me too bad? I could have seen any episode but no I managed to catch the episode that only aired twice?!
