I need to make another comment about that section around 12:30 with Kevin Samules and hating women being a genre. I’m part of the tiktok debate sphere and my debates are all about politics and religion. I do not do gender stuff at all. I criticize patriarchy whenever I can and I don’t allow misogynists to feel comfortable. But I purposefully avoid “modern women vs modern man 50/50” topics like plague. I signed up to VidiQ just to see if I can get some help on getting more views on YouTube. What did ViDiQ suggest I do? Gender topics. They gave me specific titles too. Titles like “Why Black Men Get With White Women: TRUTH REVEALED!!” Another one said “The WALL of Modern Women.” I am not kidding. Those were real suggestions that VidiQ said would get me thousands of views. Hating women really is a genre.

one thing I can really think the left could do better when it comes to men is lowkey how callous some of the advice can be. Like I wouldn't say we gotta coddle men or anything, but I can't deny that the advice men have access to is legitimately booty cheeks. I remember being younger and trying to get into leftist more feminist spaces, just generally learning about it and such, and just how annoying it was when trying to speak about frustrations with girls or asking generally why being angry was so bad, the advice I was met with was usually the equivalent of "Get gud". Which was just beyond frustrating as a 19 year old trying to understand anything about girls in the slightest, and didn't answer any questions I had. Nowadays while there are still a good chunk of people who's advice for lonely or depressed men begins and ends with "Go outside and get over it.", it's better now that we got normal dudes out there just high-key combatting the red pill dudes that wanna tell you it's feminisms fault. Now we just need more of a push for mental health to be looked into better, because that is definitely still stigmatized for young men. Like we all love a guy that does therapy and such, but the only real places to vent that don't potentially cost hundreds of dollars, are unironically the weird incel parts of the Internet or with your friends that're likely just as bad at emotional regulation. There's still such a strong push, even in leftist spaces, for men to uphold these ideas of masculinity that not a single one of them are likely to uphold in the first place.
Sorry for ranting, I really do think the left is trying, I'm just pointing out that we really are working with very little information on the men involved because we are in a society that encourages men to give as little information as possible.

To me, misogyny boils down less to hate, but the idea that women should be treated differently than men.
It leads to hate more often than hate being the starting place.

I grew up very very Left leaning, heavily into the arts, SJW vibes even.
When I had to learn to go from a boy to a man, the Left did not have the people that were able to help me.
To say it was my fault for not going to people who couldn’t help me when I needed help… doesn’t make sense to me. It was my responsibility to grow up, but if the Left can’t help, then I must go to people on the Right or elsewhere.
Basically none of the people I looked to for help were outright political. But their leanings would show.
I was always very weary of who I went to, and there were some people who were obviously hateful losers. But many of the others were Right leaning. And I became a much better man for it. The Left did not provide what I needed at the time.
I’m certain you are correct that many men dodge accountability of how they need to change, but you are also dodging accountability that the Left as a whole should take on. Meaning just saying yeah there should have been more people lovingly and powerfully addressing men who need to grow and heal if we want them to resonate with us.
To tell men that they should just be better is unhelpful if they need help becoming better……
Eventually I found great thinkers like Robert Glover, David Deida, and Mark Manson. But I did not find them through folks like you, FD. Respectfully.

You’re definitely one of the better men on Youtube I’ve seen talk about men and men’s issues (a term I don’t love) but I think the fact that you couldn’t see the rise of the manosphere coming is a good indicator of your blind spot with gender. This shit has been coming and honestly it should have been pretty easy to spot by anyone that spends a lot of time online. I’m not trying to dunk on you. A lot of writing about gender is just extremely white and there’s no escaping it. Regardless, it’s just clear there’s a couple of foundational misunderstandings imo.
A lot of leftist men do this thing where they define misogyny exactly as you have – hatred of women – and they miss that it’s not just that. Misogyny is a systemic issue. It just presents differently because women are forced to live and interact with their oppressors in a way that’s not characteristic of other forms of oppression. It’s why it doesn’t make sense to talk about “misandry.” Individual women may genuinely hate men but it simply does not stack up to the level of misogyny and it doesn’t make sense to give this extremely isolated phenomenon a word with the same weight. A bitter woman being mean to the men in her life cannot and will not stack up to a life time of BEING a woman, and every single man on this planet benefits from patriarchy, even if he is denied the full benefit because of his membership in another oppressed class.
I think misogyny gets overshadowed a lot both because of its unique presentation and because the brutality of anti-Black racism in America especially makes other forms of oppression look kinda small, especially when it’s the kind that occurs mostly behind closed doors.
I really adore your channel. The work you do is valuable even if it is primarily entertainment. You’ve provided me with some great jumping off points to learn and engage more (offline) with these ideas. But it is always frustrating to see misogyny treated as some little side oppression by leftist men, which I don’t think is the norm for you and it doesn’t appear in this video, but it does appear elsewhere on your channel.
Obviously I’m just a comment but I’d love to see your understanding of gender evolve a little. I know when you’re talking about women you’re primarily talking about Black women, which is great – they need allies, especially within their own communities, but I think a more robust understanding of how gender and patriarchy affects all women (even the white ones) will help you serve the women you’re focused on even more, even if you’re not talking about it explicitly in your videos.
Misogyny had seemingly taken a back seat a little bit culturally but it has been returning in a really strong way as far back as 2016. We need to be prepared to reckon with misogyny as its own system of oppression or we are going to be woefully unprepared for what comes next.

I agree with everything you saying, but i do think there is actually some truth to the "the left has left men behind" thing. Although i completely agree that it also serves as an excuse a lot of times. But this phrase also points towards a very real problem, not the left's inability to reach young man, but the problem of not having a sort of mainstream conception of straight masculinity. Deconstruction only takes you so far, we gotta construct things too. This whole manosphere thing is in a way a caricature of what progressive thinkers termed toxic masculinity in the last century. The manosphere basically owned the caricature as their identity And when such bullshit gets mainstream traction… There may actually be a lack of alternatives. I personally don't care about finding some sort of masculine identity for myself, but there are people who need that and manosphere is partially born out of that negative space.
Anyways, really liked the video. Good job i think you are truly helping.
P.s English is not my first language so sorry if the writing is bad😂

It's not that "The left doesn't do enough for the left", it's that the left is sexist against men. Things like the stigma of Bernie Bro's among Democrats prove this. I dare you to listen to Tinashe's song "No Broke Boys" and tell me it doesn't activate hate against men. This is not only normalized, but celebrated.

When it comes Meg thee Stallion.
Few Key points:
1. She invited Tory Lanez to that party cuz her best friend was dating him.
2. She was cheating with Tory behind her best friend back.
3. She then lied about sleeping with Tory to the media.
And the one thing that trips me out is if I get shot and my so called best friend who witnessed the shotting doesn't testify in court, doesn't cooperate or corroborate my story to the police to the media. Then definitely something is wrong here.
Even if we are beefing, you supposedly got shot, that should be enough reason for someone to take your side. In that moment because if he can shoot you then he can probably shoot the best friend too.

5:51 – another woman who is on the “Free Tory Lanez” train is Angela Staton King. She’s not a politician but she is an activist and a staunch Trump supporter.
She went on Willie D Live and advocated for Tory Lanez and she did the same thing with Diddy by saying that she refuses to tear down Black men. What she fails to understand is holding Lanez and Diddy accountable for their actions isn’t “tearing Black men down”. Huey from The Boondocks explained this so eloquently in the R.Kelly episode.
This is the same woman who went to Dr. Phil’s show because she didn’t want to accept her trans child. She even threatened to decapitate a trans activist that was on the show.
