The 2026 election cycle is officially the first AI election, and New York’s 12th congressional district candidate Alex Bores is at the center of the political battlefield. Following his introduction of the RAISE Act to establish artificial intelligence safety protocols, Bores became the primary target for dueling tech industry billionaires. This video breaks down the unprecedented influx of artificial intelligence politics into local congressional races, illustrating how federal preemption debates and state-level AI regulation are shaping the future of American elections and tech lobbying.

At the heart of this conflict is a massive spending war between rival AI super PACs representing fundamentally opposed philosophies. On one side, the deregulation-focused Leading the Future super PAC—heavily funded by OpenAI executives like Greg Brockman and venture capital firm a16z—is utilizing affiliate groups like Think Big PAC to launch negative attack ads. On the opposing side, Anthropic has heavily funded Public First Action, utilizing sub-PACs like Jobs and Democracy and Dream NYC to support pro-regulation candidates. This proxy war pits the accelerationist strategies of OpenAI against the safety-driven, effective altruism network associated with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.

Understanding this AI super PAC landscape is crucial for navigating the broader intersection of technology and government in the 2026 AI election. Beyond individual candidates like Alex Bores, the battle encompasses national policy frameworks, military contractor relations with companies like Palantir, and the soaring rates of tech lobbying in Washington. Whether driven by competitive business advantages, national security concerns regarding export controls against China, or the complex ethical frameworks of effective altruism, the corporate fight to control AI regulation will definitively alter the political landscape for years to come.

Yeah, not that I think it matters. But if you do AI ads I’m leaving.

It’s by the dollar the most destructive/disruptive industry.

People can buy GPUs, RAM, or Harddrives. The data centers pollute from gas turbines, both noise and environmentally.

We need to pull the brakes, otherwise we end up with a monolithic society…

I wish doing research is as easy as watching this video 😂 that mind map is so helpful, but man is it overwhelming, I truly cannot imagine doing the research, but it’s so important to do the research research 😅

Great video! I think EA here is sorta negatively portrayed as some sort of in-group of tech folks with weird philosophies (which it totally is) — but in this context, I think it’s more apt to say that the pro-AI regulation folks are simply coming from a place of genuinely believing AI has the potential to be an incredibly dangerous force in society, and even pose an existential risk to humanity.

Of course that’s a core belief of the EA group, but the narrative made it out to be more nefarious than it is.

I think the goal of these adds might be to make the issue of ai become polarized because currently it looks like ai is going to become a major class issue and it would be in the best interests of billionaires and corporations to prevent that from happening.

What happens when the laws related to operating systems under the AI systems become non-agnostic or discriminatory ( Age verification and regional geo locks [ like DRM DVD/Blueray/Games] but for the OS – AI laws are only one side of coin here. It would be great if you looked into this as well so many states are taking actions with laws that could lead to computing inequality.

I Don't think enough people are worried about these POLYMARKETS, and interference or manipulation of voters through simply putting your superpack money on who you w3ant to twin, and have VOTERS vote along with the ODDS!!! Why put 100's of millions into superpacks, when you can directly influence the outcome with a smaller amount on many different seats!!!
