Black political power is under attack. From the destruction of the Voting Right Act, to the neck-breaking redistricting sprint happening throughout the South. What’s clear is that Black people need a plan. In this video we discuss exactly that.

I called my state and federal representatives after the VRA was gutted. I am white and am livid this happened to my fellow Americans. White Americans, pack Congress and your state legislatures by voting for BIPOC candidates. .

For #3 there are plenty of people in a transient phase that this is feasible for and encouraging them to consider the south is reasonable. We all have biases about what it would be like to live in different regions. I think addressing those biases and valid pros and cons of a move to the south would increase feasibility.

Also, consider safe districts to move from and strategic places to move to. This is not just for moving to the south. Southerners are moving to the north for safety. So if you’re leaving the south where should you go to replace the voters who moved south or to increase the majority in northern swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin.

A tool like this would be great for college students considering which school to go to, new couples debating who’s hometown to move too, and so many people looking to or required to change for innumerable reasons.

Or even better directions or a toolkit for where to go figure it out yourself

Americans generally are moving to the South. So it’s not like there’s no opportunity or precedent. Also if Black Americans move back to the Deep South it would probably cause the White people that suck to move away, compounding the effect. Black nationalism (in this sense, a US state or states by black people and for black people) is obviously wrong in the way all ethnic nationalisms are wrong, however it’s the lesser of evils and ethnic minorities have historically had a lot of success consolidating power via demographics. If we could have equal rights in a state that isn’t ethnically majoritarian that would be preferable, but if we can’t then minority nationalism becomes a viable alternative. For example a Yugoslavia where each ethnic group was respected is obviously preferable to a collection of Balkanized majoritarian states, but…
“When a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

This is the best argument I’ve heard for moving to the south that I’ve heard. I grew up in the bay and now live in the midwest. I never really considered living in the south because frankly I’m afraid of the potential for racial violence and animosity. The potential for building a true strong hold for black political power in the south makes me think something beautiful and enduring could come from moving there.

We will be equal, when on any given sunday, there are as many (by %) brown people in office (across the board, not just congeress or sentat) as there are in the population, and where randomly some governing body happens to have 3x the % of black persons to black population. We will be equal when 50% of the people on governing bodies generally, are women. But also when the supreme court has 9 women on it. (yes, all women is not equal in that moment, but to BE equal, means sometimes we will vote for 9 women). We will be equal when we do not need to make laws about your hair. (NOT, "we should not be making laws about hair, but we do not NEED to), especially because teachers, policy makers, have some idea about human variety and why some people take different care of their hair rather than try to be like a specific set of people in control.

We will be equal when kids in school read books about a little black girl as the lead, with a asian gay boy as her best friend AND NO ONE THINKS ITS WORTH COMMENTING ABOUT HOW PROGRESSIVE IT IS.

Equality is not not "we didn't shoot a black kid today, cause we are good cops", it's "Tommy, the son of the rich car shop owner, was put in jail for harrassing a girl." cause equal is ALSO the white rich paying the same time as everyone else for crimes.

"what's next for black power". I don't know, being white, but I hope it involves a fuck ton of saying "no". and feeling safe doing so.

    Malcolm X stated,
    "Blk ppl must realize any
    MEANINGFUL GAIN
for US, is inherently taken as a threat to
    the wht power structure…"
    and that they rather
    pacify blk ppl w/
symbols, instead of real concrete things like genuine equality or systemic change…🤨

Imo, Juneteenth is just that a (symbol) for EVEN more $$$ to be made off of & pacify @ the same time but what has been gained, in that sense that
    Malcolm X spoke on…
    *did you gain, seriously?
    "Absolutely Not!!!"

Communities, have always have weekend long celebrations, anyway…

Retaliatory Gerrymandering in Blue states may help Democrats rebalance the nation wide party balance in the house. But that will likely rquire FURTHER diluting of majority black districts in thouse Blue states because overwhelmingly black and democratic leaning districts would need to be broken up to take more districts. Many CBC members are unwilling to do this because they are unlikely to win renomination. But its now incressingly possible for black candidates to win nomination and office in white majority districts, but they are invariably YOUNG and progressive black candidates who win. Infact we had just reached parity CBC membership in the house with the national black population share, 13%, to keep that from dropping due to losses in the south we may simply have to have more black nominees in democratic white majority districts in the north and west, they won't be ideal at representing the intrests of black voters in the south though as their are real political differences between them. But they will be reliable votes in congress to rebuild the voting rights acts, overturn these supreme court rulings and pass anti-gerrymanding laws nationwide which will bring back souther black representation.

My beloved Amherst Co Va projects shrinking population and shrinking opportunity for the next 50 years, and is ruled by a leisure class of Real Estate people and their lawyers. They were a huge part of pushing the remaining Blacks out, but you cannot prove it in Court, or could not when it mattered. But their real resistance to new people moving in is cracker-thin. The leadership is crooked, and it is catching up with them as people get more desperate in an America finally run the way Rural White Real Estate people would have it. Golf course communities surrounded by armed guards. Prisons, Data Centers, and Casinos. And more Prisons.

Let's be honest. The reason Black Americans can't coalesce to be effective is bc the dominant YT society bombarded Black society with Black immigrants who do not share our cultural and historical journey in America therefore them and their descendants are not motivated to do what it takes to fight for and take real power in this country. Many Black immigrants identify more with non-Blacks than with Freedmen and will not fully get on code with American Freedmen who have historical connection and scars of battling anti-Black racism in America and know how to combat the system of YT supremacy. Not only do Black immigrants NOT know how to combat it but they smuggle in variables into Black American society that are toxic, corrosive, and counterproductive to a true coalescence.

Our social currency is our strength. We need solve resource needs quick. Our high earners have to get involved as well. They're often fighting for and standing with everyone else it seems

The unfortunate side is that there are many like the young brotha that you interviewed a while back, saying that he preferred a future of dangerous freedom. Well, we’re definitely getting it and then some.

this is my first exposure to Lynae, and boy howdy was I missing out! She's awesome! 1,000% correct that it isn't good enough to strike, it's the main thing limiting the power of my union workplace, we need to with hold our labor to improve our conditions, but we can't afford to because things are so dire. It's a real trap and it's some real bs
