My favorite live album of Steve Hackett is the one with Ian Mosley (now with Marillion) on drums and Chas Cronk (ex-Strawbs) on bass on the 1981 Cured tour. I wish Hackett could perform with Ian Mosley again. If Ian Mosley had only played drums on the Cured album, it would have been fantastic because Mosley is an incredible drummer. I love a lot of Hackett's solo material from albums like "Please Don't Touch", "Wild Orchids" and "Darktown" and wish he could play them again.

I will be seeing the show tomorrow night and am really looking forward to seeing the performance of Supper's Ready. To me it is simply epic and a stunning composition, it would be a shame if it were dropped.

Thanks for this review. Saw Steve last night in Newcastle (Gateshead) and was everything I hoped it would be. I do enjoy his solo stuff but I admit I was there for Foxtrot which is my favourite Genesis album. I picked up on it a few years after release and of course they'd moved on, so this was as good and faithful a rendition of that work as I could ever hope for. Magnificent musicianship, 5 stars throughout. Nad Sylvan by his very nature could make or break the proceedings, but I was delighted with what he delivered. A great, great evening.
By the way, I often have to remind myself that this absolute masterpiece of prog rock was delivered to us by a bunch of guys barely into their 20s. It beggars belief.
P.s. Can Utility just brilliant. It's rather an overlooked track perhaps, but without doubt my all time favourite and I was absolutely willing it to be performed to perfection. It was

In the meantime, how about Genesis Live back to back with Selling England for 2023, 50 years on. I'd love to see Hogweed, The Knife and The Musical Box.
A Trick of the Tail Needs to be pencilled in for 2025 on the 50th anniversary of the recording.😊👍👌
The Lamb? That would be fabulous for 2024 but it's a stretch!

I was there, for the third time. What a show it was magnificent!
Opened up with Ace of Wands from Voyage of the Acolyte, absolutely awesome and it didn't let up. Steve's guitar work at the age of 72 is just spellbinding and as you said brilliantly backed up by his band. I've got one gripe…. You didn't mention Amanda. I know that she only performed on a few tracks, but I thought her guitar work and the vocals on Hierophant were excellent. Sally Oldfield is unbeatable on the original version, but Amanda did this sensational song proud covering it beautifully. Picked up the £20 box set (2 CDs and 2 DVDs) absolutely astonishing. I'll never forget Foxtrot at Fifty 👏👏

Don't ever buy a VIP ticket. Bought mine for the selling england/seconds out in australia. Covid protocols were inplemeted at the last minute, all VIPticket holders were bundled into the theatre, rapidly quick Q and A, two songs, and a photo with the band stood on the stage with the VIP ticket holder stood off the stage infront of them. All up it lasted less 15mins before we were all bundled back out again. Cost $370aus =£217.00. Walked in feeling like a VIP, left feeling like a schmuck. Own all the Genesis albums and all of Steve's Solo work, don't know how many albums he has left in him but I won't be buying anymore of them

Here we are talking about what Steve should do on the next tour, and I haven't seen this one yet – got that pleasure to come in two day's time at Bexhill.
I wouldn't have thought Steve would do Selling England, since that was the tour before last. Personally, I would like him to do Nursery Cryme, if only so that I get to hear the whole of The Musical Box – we only got half of it on last year's Second's Out tour.

But whatever is played, I'll be there and I'll enjoy it.

I was at Cambridge for this gig and it was sublime. You didn't mention 'Time Table' or 'Every Day', both of which I enjoyed, the former being a bit of a rarity live. I don't know if it was just coincidence, but playing 'The Tower Struck Down' on September 11th, as it was, seemed a bit spooky.

Hmmmm. So much talk about his Genesis stuff, but hardly anything about his solo material.
Spectral Mornings, Shadow of the Heirophant, Devil's Cathedral… Was that all there was worth mentioning?
I'm going to have to chase up the set list.

I am sure he puts on a fantastic show. He has a wonderful solo catalog and if he added the greatest Genesis album to his set list it had to min boggling. I would love to see Peter Gabriel tour with him even just for a few shows as I think Phil, Tony and Mike are probably done with it.
