A lot of mysteries are around why the hell the human body hurts so much for a random period of time then stop. I understand if it's through aging since that's when you're body's slowly breaking down but when it's not it is really confusing. I like to chalk it up to humans by an evolution standpoint just being held together by our brains and glitter glue

The nut sorting thing comes down to packing density at the end of the day. The nut to air ratio on the big nuts is lower than the nut to air ratio on the small nuts. As a mixture of optimally packed items, the big nuts with air have less gravity on them than the small nuts with air. It is the same principle as why air bubbles go up in water or why things float at all. Introducing entropy (shaking the container) results in a higher likelihood that the mixtures will become optimally packed.
