    No Rousseau? He is my favorite. When I was studying philosophy in school he was the first one who made me question everything. Also his rules and questions on Western Law was groundbreaking.

    4. Marcus Aurelius (used to be higher but turns out of he ripped off a gladiator's head and made his wife bath in his blood cuz he was getting cucked)
    3. Epictetus/Seneca (Stoicism in general was the first philosophy I came across and it really did help me out.)
    2. Epicurus (I like the way he cleanly classifies human desires and what we need and we don't, and how he tells us to let go of our fears and worries.)

    There was oddly a very satisfying feeling while listening to Ben talk this time in the video. Something about his narration that made me feel like he's sitting next to me while talking about these philosophers. <3

    It's odd but as a Christian, I love reading pessimistic philosophy. Schopenhauer and Cioran stands out to me. And I enjoy Absurdist like Camus. I think it's the fact that those writers had the balls to mentally address a purposeless void and came out with their own kinds of thinking. Idk. I'm not a well read philosophy guy. 😊

    My top 5

    1) Immanuel Kant
    I wrote my dissertation on his psychophysics and I've spent years thinking about his theories. I consider him to be the greatest philosophical thinker.

    2) Jean-Paul Sartre
    I fell in love with his phenomenology during my bachelor's. In particular, I love his account of freedom.

    3) Emil Cioran
    I suffer from MDD and I find his work to be comforting because it reminds me that others feel like me sometimes.

    4) Søren Kierkegaard
    I struggle with belief concerning God and I find Kierkegaard's perspective to be very interesting.

    5) Pyrrho
    The majority of my work concerns epistemology and, as a person who holds a psychological reading of Kant's Categories, Pyrrho is useful for discussing 'why' we cannot know a thing.

    I used to like sartre and Simone until I read about the grooming and sex group stuff. Specifically the grooming is what turned me off of them. I still like their work, but much like with bukowski, I always preface talking about them with a preamble about not being a huge fan lol.

    Camus the OG, especially among the French post WW2 philosophical movement. I especially like how he was ostracized from the community for disagreeing about communism. He died way too soon, but I am thankful for his work and his authenticity.
