Mötley Crüe’s John 5 Involved in SCARY Tour Bus Wreck

Rock Feed | January 10, 2026

Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 is lucky to be alive today after a terrifying and completely unexpected tour bus crash that could have ended in tragedy. While out on the road for his solo tour, a freak equipment failure caused a wheel on his trailer to fly off, sending the entire bus swerving violently across the highway before slamming into an overpass.

I call BS. As a Professional Interstate Truck Driver for Many Years, I call BS.
If the Top of the bus hit the Overpass, it wasn'tmeant to go under in the first place and a busted trailer tyre, no way 😂
    They've all got height limits

"WOWWWWWWWW"!!! Geez am I ever glad that John 5 and everyone onboard his tour bus are unscathed and not hurt in any way, shape or form! And also very thankful that nobody else was hurt when this tire came off of the trailer they were pulling, because a lot of times these runaway tires can definitely do very serious damage to other vehicles, and even the drivers or passengers in other vehicles! I know this not only because of stories I've heard in the past of such things happening, but as an avid diehard NASCAR fan, I've seen some pretty bad incidents with runaway tires, but in fairness, the tires used in NASCAR are a bit heavier than most passenger vehicles, but some of these tires used on trailers, trucks, and especially semi trucks can weigh just as much or more at times than any racing tires. But still, not to go into this too much, but even a smaller tire can weigh enough to very much hurt someone seriously at the speeds the traffic is moving on roads and especially highways, but something the size and weight of even a smaller tire coming at someone at those same speeds can definitely cause very serious damage to the vehicle it runs into, and especially serious injury or death to the occupants of the vehicle! Anyway, thank God that John 5 and crew are okay, and that no one else was hurt or killed by this terrible incident! Much love and respect John 5! Give them an extra oncore in your next show in being thankful nothing worse came out of this craziness! (Ernie Wilber) 🤟💀🤟✌️

As a CDL holder with over a million miles, many with a trailer weighing much more than that and one incident exactly like that thanks to a pothole in Indiana, something is fishy.

That wheel coming off would have very little effect on the tracking of the bus. An enclosed single wheel tandem is probably going to be a max weight of 14k lb. Realistically backline won't weigh anywhere near that.

The bus weighs 3 to 5 times more, meaning that trailer wouldn't have enough unf to make the while rig sway more than a little bit. Just my observation, would be nice to see the dash cam.

I'm so glad John 5 and the rest of the band and crew are okay. It's better to have damage to the bus than the people inside though they all may have been slightly traumatized.

That’s my home! Went to school out there. Glad they’re all okay I’m good friends with a few drivers and heard some seriously wild stories about the road

And he didn’t lose his equipment either! A few years ago the band Big Wreck had a bus that caught fire in the back. Not only did they all get out fine, but quick thinking staff got the trailer of equipment unhooked and the bus moved away, just in case the fire grew. You cannot continue the tour without gear.
