Leslie Jones Can’t Believe What Europeans Think of Americans | The Daily Show

The Daily Show | September 27, 2024

Fresh off a summer vacation at the Paris Olympics, Leslie Jones returns to offer a fresh perspective on why Europeans think so poorly of America. Between the chemical additives in our food, public breakdowns on social media, gun violence, and whale decapitations by insane politicians, Leslie concludes: We are f**ked up. #DailyShow #LeslieJones #Europe

When I was in the US there were two things I noticed about the food; the portion sizes and everything is so much sweeter. I bought white bread which tasted like bubblegum and hadn't gone bad 8 days later… Can't be healthy.

The bit about the peach is so true. I'm American but live in Germany and the first time I had in season strawberries here was a life-changing experience. Red all the way through. Even strawberries from a farmer's market in the US can't compare.

Speaking as a Frenchman, Leslie Jones gets a free pass to come over here and shout as much as she likes because it's glorious. But I feel like she's self-aware enough to do it ironically. Which just isn't everyone.

While it's dangerous to generalize a stereotypical image from a group of 320 million Americans the USA are a country with major issues, most of all being the lack of education. How else can you explain that after everything Donald Trumpo has done 43% of registered voters still plans to vote for the guy. In a more educated nation he shouldn't be able to get above 3-5% of the votes

The way people eat, how they think about gun control and health care etc is also directly connected to this. Millions of Americans only watch FOX News for their information and to me it's amazing, in a very distraught sort of way, that FOX is still even allowed to broadcast with all proven the lies and manipulation they have done in past years.

But the absolute worst issue with the USA is its political system. The whole 'winner takes all' system per state that is in effect during a general election is the absolute worst system. You're a Democrat in Texas or a Republican in New York City? You might as well not vote because at the end of the days certain states will always be Democrat/republican wins leaving millions of voters in effect unrepresented.
