Wow, thank you for making this video! A lot of this advice is really clear and actionable. Unfortunately it does make everything quite a bit intimidating too lol… I've been wanting to get into making videos for a while and now knowing the realities I worry there's not much point. But at least it's coming from a place of realism and not just fear I suppose XD

Your explanation of the youtube algorithm sounds a lot like the glicko-2 algorithm that is used in a lot of ranked miltiplayer games. This was nearly exactly how Valorant ranking system worked before they changed it in like season 3

I love the sports videos. I get that I’m one guy and the pattern is whatever but, man. Doing lefty organizing stuff and liking football is lonely sometimes. Keep building that bridge!

11:20 he's not just a rapper from the 90s, he never stopped making music and has current albums even now. The thumbnail where he is painted in silver is from the Ni**nometry video song, I believe. That one is old but he's got lots of new material and collaborations.

Sometimes I wish YouTube had community recommendations like Twitter had community notes. I watched the running back video having virtually no applicable knowledge of football, and I thought it was amazing, and definitely helped me understand a sphere of our world i dont normally consider a little better. I wish there was a way to put a little blurb about why an audience should watch a video, from someone who actually watched it

Most of the continents I've ever seen be popular actually had some efforts. When I try to do well effort concepts on tiktok or even high effort, it just barely got anywhere. I mean, everybody's experience is going to be different, but I kind of find a ridiculous to say that as if that's an absolute. Just for the simple fact that everybody's experience is going to be different from the viewers perspective or content creators perspective we're a bit of both.

This video rocks! I’ve been on YouTube since I was a kid, and hearing your breakdown of both platforms confirms a lot of the things I was already thinking. I’m not even a content creator but this is so fascinating

Jesus, all this talk of gaming the system and maximizing monetization and clout chasing and…

Whatever happened to just making videos for the love of the game? Dling something because you wanted to do it?

This all feels so soulless, like a guide for empty, avaricious husks to chase that feeling of filling some hole in their lives thatll never be filled.

It amazes me that one the thing missing from this types of conversations is still that we don't have any democratic control of our social networks, we need to think about alternatives owned and managed by users such as the fediverse, mastodon and peertube

Bullsh*t, on YouTube its best to upload at least every day or at least three times a week. I started to post every other day and my both of my channels got more views post once a week. All you want to you’re more than likely not to get a lot of views especially if you haven’t built up your audience yet

This gives me more reasons for saying tiktok is over all better. You have to micro manage youtube soo much, that you can't even have fun with it no more.

If youtube found a way to prevent me from using youtube revanced on my phone so I couldn't listen to you with my screen locked? I would just flat out stop using youtube.

You made tiktok look better with this video.
