8:41 Often bi-polar 1 sufferers will end up committing heinous crimes like murdering people. Kanye is actually sort-of a success story for this disorder. 30% of all cases end in suicide, and he has talked about his struggle with those thoughts before (track 1 on “ye”, unreleased song “See Me Again”)

Im 26. Around 13 or 14 I stopped taking Kanye Serious. I felt he showed his true colors multiple times enough to where I knew something wasnt right in his mind. It was starting to bleed into the music and the numbers of his music enabled a weird god complex in his mind which caused him to spiral. I felt this way back at 14 but wasnt matured enough to be able to clearly explain it until time gives clarity. But eh who am I? Just my 2 cents🤷🏿‍♂️

    something something flashing lights

seeing kanye trying to claw back relevance is like watching a boxer get back up after getting his shit rocked for the 17th time like please god bro just stay down I don't want to see this anymore

I was genuinely surprised at how little of this video had to do with the "I love h1tler" thing while still making time to say/not-say that talking about sexual assault is bad.

His weirdness started in 2014 when he made the biggest mistake in his life, by marrying her. I don't like saying I called back then but I called it back then. I said that he blew 50 million dollars by marrying her and that is exactly what he did.

Ye is what happens when the world eats an artist alive in real time

Seeing that kid talking about having big ideas in the jeen yuhs doc, when he was driving in the first episode

Seeing that to now, should show every artist, it ain't about the money, the money ain't gonna save anybody
It eats art and shits out capitalist bile

I like a lot of what you say and put out and agree with most if not all of it, but i just really cant justify you glossing over the fact that you said "being bipolar doesnt make you do x". It quite literally does. Not only are you not a neuroscientist, but if you did do the research youd see that the symptoms are consistent and not really unusual. As someone who has relatives who have gone through bipolar, manic and schizophrenic disorders, this is all very part and parcel. You have dr. Bennet omalu (the doctor who raised awareness for the nfl cte scandal) vouching for kanye's symptoms. I think that yes kanye could do more to take accountability but discounting his circumstances is just unreasonable and frankly stupid by you.

If your job is to make art and you have a mental disorder it actually makes complete sense that it would have an influence on what you create. Maybe bpd wouldn't influence the typical individual from making racialized music against people perceived to be persecutory figures. Superhumanizing people eventually and inevitably always leads to disappointment then comes the convenient self-righteous opposite extreme dehumanization.

Jesus Walks? Ghost Town? Flashing Lights?
What songs were so good the lyrics deserve a place next to lead belly, nina simone, aritha franklin, or tupac?
-> In my opinion Kanye was not even as good as busta rhymes, bizzare, or necro. What did old Kanye add to music that didn't already exist in a better form.
-> "YEEZY" always did what AI does now, copy bits and pieces of different artists mash them together as an identity. Read his lyrics then read the lyrics of any mediocre rapper. Lol.
-> BTW Pedro Eustache "Flute Guy" from the game awards brought more genuine creativity to the music industry.

8:42 I have BP1 I remember relating to Kanye lyrics “I put my hand on the stove to see if I could bleed” which was the first time I personally connected with a Kanye lyric. I remember defending his “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” statement in high school. And I’d did not like any of his releases in post secondary. The only two songs I liked since then were Flashing Lights because of the Gil Scott Heron sample and Bound 2 because I genuinely thought it catchy and a bit tongue in cheek.

Hated Kanye foolishness ever since him and stupid looking overpriced impractical shoes.

Anywho, in the height of my manic episode, never once did say anything close to the racist shit Kanye did. I may have said and done other awful things but being a racist uneducated fool is not a symptom of mania. However I could see if surrounded by horrible fame hungry racist sycophant could enable that, plus Kanye’s, clearly obvious to me, desire to be contrarian just for the sake of attention. See above comment about when I defended him.

Yet I was still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for the ad apology. It was a weird way of doing it and I was naive for falling for it. It was a literal ad for his new shitty project. In my comment (maybe this channel) I did caution that I would only take his words in earnest if he would recuse himself for the limelight to work on himself. This is clearly not the case now. Effectively it’s the same for me because I will continue to ignore him.

    The engagement is for FD.

Oh man, finally someone doesnt blame bipolar. I'm bipolar and I'm a communist. Bipolar disorder makes you really reckless, impulsive, and passionate. It does make you make bad decisions. It clouds your judgement, but it doesnt make you do anything. Talking about it like this runs the risk of ableist beliefs being subtext. It makes feel invalidated. Like all the struggles I had must have come from just my brain chemistry. All beliefs aren't my own because my disease chose them for me. Am just a communist because I'm bi-polar? Am I non binary because I'm bi-polar? Have I never made any successes in managing my bi polar disorder? Was pointless for me to try so hard to do so? See? Its bad precident.

He apologized to his fans so they’ll have justification for listening to his stuff still. He didn’t apologize to the women he hurt children included. Or to the Jewish community.

I don’t think people understand, he said sorry, again, it does happen to line up with his economic interests, again, but I’m sure it’s sincere, this time.

The terms "cancelled" and accountability have become so conflated and dissolved it's now a nebulous sense of uhhh cathartic comeuppance to those who "deserved" it. While I understand the celebration when we see problematic figures get toppled, or butthurt by their own "cancellations", they never actually see accountability and these strange social media outrage events barely serve the function those feeding into it believe it does.

Rage is easy to farm, it garners clicks for inflammatory tweets and tabloid articles but barely are the offenders deplatformed significantly or having to show an effort to change or care beyond an oh so remorseful but vague acknowledgement of actions. They only have to lay in wait until it blows over as media storms often do. We, as the public, need to stop screaming for blood (to the astute point of how this mirrors carceral ideologies) while simultaneously sitting satisfied at just yelling into the social media vacuum as nothing is done. I see the irony in me doing that here but I come at an angle of where accountability IS possible and we need to hold space for that change but we also need to be stern about our principles. If they don't own up to their actions, then farewell!

Jew here. The Jewish tradition of forgiveness is called tshuva. Step 1: apologize. 2: make the other person whole for their losses that you caused. 3: never repeat the wrongdoing (prove it over the passage of time). 4: after the passage of time, you might be forgiven. My understanding of the Christian tradition: turn the other cheek/if someone says sorry, you’re obligated to forgive or YOU become the bad person.

Kanye is 50, there's no need to wait for an apology so you can go back to his works. Creatively, he's done. He should keep his apology and go sit down somewhere.

As someone with diagnosed bipolar (I) disorder, no it doesn't make you racist and doesn't excuse racism. It's not an issue of mental health, he's just like that

9:45 this, for real. If I see "DESTROYED" in a headline or title my eyes glaze over. I've got to tune into C-Span to avoid coverage more suited to professional wrestling commentary, goddamn

Nope. I’ve been done since he asserted that slavery was a choice. I think it was fishy that a lot of his wild statements happened around the time he was about to drop something, and he can do all the apologies and explanations he wants but even if I accept them, he won’t be getting my money again.

He just made 30 million over 2 days in Vegas…this is fake outrage for engagement….and that gospel album was made specifically for black people. But that doesn't fit your narrative huh?

Neurodivergence and sexual abuse as a child really does not have anything to do with people a hate figure. Just my feelings as a neurodivergent and abused person so I’m biased but I feel people use it to excuse hate
