How to Buy Happiness With Money

Evelyn Adams was the first person in American history to ever win multiple million-dollar prizes. Basically overnight, she went from working in a convenience store to being worth more than some CEOs. With her newfound wealth, Adams paid off bills, set up a college fund for her daughter, bought a car, and lavished friends and family with gifts. You’d think a story like this would come with a happily ever after finale, but you’d be very wrong.

This Is a great video, I’ve thought the same exact thing, applied it to my life and have found it works wonderfully. A big portion of what’s helped me is to accomplish goals, in my hobbies, career, learning, and daily goals I can set and accomplish. Feeling a since of accomplishment in our life’s is very important.

1:45 this kinda makes me wonder how much of the typical progression of lottery winners is due to them being, you know, gamblers, and how much is due to more general human cognitive biases.

Growing up in relative squalor does not equate to happiness even though it’s free.

It’s never money that makes rich people unhappy, it’s a lack of vision for their life/resources. If you strictly view money as buying stuff, that’s indicative you have little-to-no vision for your resources. Money can be peace of mind. Money can be not wondering how you’re going to feed your family/afford an emergency. Money can be control of your time. Money can be providing real change to people unable to provide it for themselves.
If you see those things and still see money as a curse, that’s not a money problem, that’s a YOU problem.

I think of money as a foundation for a building called happiness. You can't build a building without foundation. But some people, throughout their lives just strengthen the foundation and forget to build the building.

I find this video professional yet profound. I teach my kids or rather ask them the following: what would you really want to do. If money was no option. Art my 7yr old replies. I want to be an artist.
Fantastic i say.
(Fantastic way to get culturally accustomed to different 'arts' and explore art)
But also i take the opinion that if you do what you really desire then you'll enjoy what you do. And the money will follow because if you enjoy what you do and you tend to (not always) do that thing well.
Don't just do a job to earn money.
Better to spend a short life in a wonderful way than a prolonged life in a miserable way. ❤

The more one has the more one has to maintain. A lot of things maybe and entertainment, but they tend to malfunction and break down even if you don’t use them. My idea is that money really can’t buy happiness, it at most can give one a measure of independence, liberty to things that are right, like helping someone else when they have a problem, help with no strings attached. Right now in our modern USA , money, even if you have a reasonable amount can’t buy a sense of security for middle class people- the high cost of medical care and old age services are sky rocketing. So I guess it’s time to use money wisely and make the most of those things that one enjoys that really don’t cost very much at all. Enjoy life’s moments : laughing, music, simple food and drinks , exercise, fresh air, nature , good company, good books , good movies with redeemable value , love. The KISS rule is a good way to start. Every second is a goner.

If I were the richest person on earth I'd have AI run the towns.and people would only be required to work 6 months in a year to maintain jobs that AI couldn't perform. Anyone who refuses would be kicked to normal social the current state is. If food is virtually free and every need and want can be met what more to ask? However it is within human nature to labor as those who have no labor will surely die early. Those who retire early and don't find ways to be productive begin to die, those who retire and are productive live a bit longer.

Yeah money can buy happiness till it is satisfying your basic needs like food , home , education , medical bill etc imagine homeless person getting shelter and food it will exponentially increase his happiness and yes you should definitely earn that much which satisfy your needs ,
But problem arise when people become mad in chasing money, more money and break the laws , ethics , loosing their mental peace .remember human needs has limits but desires are limitless
Their is a concept called hedonist adaption, it states that no matter how great achievement ( like becoming president of usa ) or reward, you will notice sudden spike in happiness but after some time it will return to baseline and you desire to want more , like billionaires
In my opinion ,True happiness only comes from contribution to society, solving problems, inventing something new these all are higher pleasure stated by is j.s Stuart mill

The story of Evelyn Adams makes me think (without Googling if I'm correct) that she hasn't really been trajecten and advice on how to spend her money. I think that is a huge risk in becoming rich over night, and in her case twice.
I hope for her she will win again, with the experience she has now.
