Howard was a very sympathetic character,
Sal and Chuck screwed him over the whole series

Better Call Saul actually made me root for characters I despised. There were very few main characters who weren't truly despicable.

That episode was the epitome of William Munny's (Clint Eastwood) immortal line in "Unforgiven" (1992): "Deserves got nuthin' t'do with it".

In all my years of watching cinema and tv, I have never been so mouth gaping-ly shocked from a scene than this moment even when the credits started rolling.

I didn't like the guy for most of the series but felt awful about not only his downfall but that death was brutal.

Kim and Jimmy were messing with Howard's life, they wanted to destroy his life. They killed Howard personally and professionally, they never thought he'd actually be killed.

Man, you spend the whole series hating Howard, and he’s the best person on the show. He hires from within by promoting mailroom. Fights to get Jimmi work. Acts as the bad guy to protect Charles

7:24 "we" are you a writer or a director? So tired of actresses thinking they are in on the creative process rather than reading scripts and emoting.

I just realized that the creators of BCS amd BB repeated the same pattern to perfection. Howard is for BCS what Hank was for BB. For most of the series you hate them. They come off as jerks, more or less antagonists. But by the time they die, their characters have become sympathetic and the viewer begins to see their goodness. Both deaths are shocking and tragic. Both leave you with mouth agape and head shaking.
Pattern followed to perfection.

I just finished watching the entire series, after first watching Breaking Bad. This show was the better of the two, IMHO.

Their reactions when Lalo comes in, and their reactions when Howard is shot, were perfect! It really sold the horror of the situation.

I'm so glad that this scene wasn't spoiled for me and that I went into this episode completely blind. This was easily the most shocking moment of the series
