He sings in his own voice..ads a Lou Reed if he could have actually sung ……..perfectly in key…….. and then Bono…and when all 3 mix it is very powerful and unique.

Love the Darkness but they had one album compared to the Strokes had a solid 4 LP's. But pretty much the same on the popularity. Strokes a bit higher but – My MO of course.

It wasn’t good at all. It’s a one trick pony and their albums sound the same. In addition, so many of their songs blatantly plagiarise others.

Interesting story about The Stokes backing off when they met Frankie. Julian Clubtropicanas 'apparently' is known to occasionally have got irascible and punchy, but every witnessed instance of this seems to have been when he was on stage and he knew there was a security guard behind him, ready to pull him up back on stage where it was safe by the his scrawny white arse.

"Is This It?" has to be in my top five greatest debut albums of all time. It was so good I didn't listen to their second album for over a decade in case it was a let down.

My son looks so much like Julian that it's always weird for me to see Julian. At one point it looked like mynson could've ben Julian's twin. People used to ask my son if he was Julian. Girls that liked Julian used to hit on my son, lol. I should go see what Julian looks like now. I like the strokes music it's fun and not polished or complicated.

The rhythmic feel at the beginning suggests "Helter Skelter" as much as "American Girl," maybe because the Strokes' sound is a bit more raw than Petty's.

There probably needs to be a new Strokes. I didn't like them much but they did revive rawer guitar based music in the early 00s.
