Boarding School Apology Removed from Federal Website

Indian Country Today | August 10, 2025

An apology regarding Indian boarding schools has been removed from a federal government website. As the Trump administration continues to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across government agencies and the private sector, tribal members are expressing their concerns about how these actions impact relations between the government and tribal communities.

How can you use these atrocities to fight your petty problems you have with the current, duly elected Administration? Trump never built these schools; killed us off., or stole our land. He isn't even responsible for hiding the horrific history and keeping it out of school curricula. There have been just as many Democratic governments and Presidents that have been way worse than this. Biden was no hero to us.

You all agree with calling it stolen land, but have no problem inviting countless immigrants in for us to share it with. Now the woke are all crying and standing up claiming genocide is happening in a far-off land in which the history is far too complicated for them to understand, while occupying land that was actually taken by genocide, hypocrites.

You have no clue how impossible taking on decolonization would be.

Sounds as though DJT's "Ministry of Truth" is trying to edit US history–by throwing anything on Federal web sites which mentions Native people down their "memory hole."

Literally trying to whitewash US history. News flash to DJT: It's not going to work. The Native people are still there, and US history cannot be rewritten with a Sharpie.

They're not sorry. They're still upholding their false gods' discovery doctrine as so called "law". They're violent colonial occupiers……..They hold no remorse. Who cares what colonial lies they have or don't have on their propaganda networks? Settler colonialism is evil. Do not look there for healing. Settler colonialists have no such healing to offer.

What do you expect from Andrew Jackson II? Besides, Biden's apology was a hollow, lip-service political gesture to try to get the Native vote.

✊🏽Allies and accomplices are strong. We non-natives are here. We understand decolonization in the mind and on the land. These attempts are to keep us all frustrated and in fear.

I appreciate your trying to have a rational discussion about this. But ….unfortunately the situation won't fit into rationality. Anyone who is watching what is happening in general, and who is aware of our current "leader's" life history, knows that we now have a mad man in the seat of power who is fueled by ONLY revenge, hate and narcissistic greed.. He is systematically dismantling everything that is "good" with this country, including our rule of law. This won't be resolved through the courts I'm sorry to say. There are now hundreds of court orders against him and he just ignores them. And since he has surrounded himself with people who also don't care about the country, there is no one to stand up for what is right. We are in dark times.
Prophecies seem to have spoken. People need to take care of one another and pray.

I firmly believe that our country will not be well or move on in a meaningful way till there is not only a sustained and resounding apology, but also active repair on many fronts, including Land Back. This admin seems to enjoy every abomination and cruelty they can fit in. I'm sorry at this point isn't enough. Many stand with you, including me. I am sorry that so much poison has surfaced, but maybe it can be cleared.

?????? OMG this administration is insane 😢. As a non Native , I apologize for all that was done to the Indigenous for centuries. No words can ever heal those wounds. I hope someday our “government “ will step up and honor the Indigenous.
