We’re going international today. There was a clip I posted of Seedless Watermelon Kim here playing slide guitar in a Korean BBQ place after hours, using his empty shot glass as said slide. It went very viral. Many of the comments I couldn’t understand, even with translation, but the general […]
(IG handles) @branwen.music wrote this song, it isn’t a traditional song. Arranged with, @annamie.ke @zoe.basha A special double feature today from Ireland here for y’all. Anthony, me, went to Ireland and heard through the grapevine about this incredible three piece harmony group, Rufous Nightjar. They really knocked my socks off […]
I was in Dublin hanging out with the Dug band fellas the other day. In between a string of shows with those lads, an old friend drove down from sunny Dundalk to play some tunes, in his BMW super whip. That gentleman is Sean Mckenna, formerly of the Mary Wallopers. […]
I got the chance to visit Niamh Bury in her Dublin home during my short visit to Ireland. I was there recording a DUG band tour (https://youtu.be/CDti4kplEtM?si=DOFPo-NBXk2EEjIi), and Niamh is on the same label, Claddagh (https://claddaghrecords.com/). Y’all know i’m a sucker for a good traditional folk tune, and Geordie fits […]
This is a song from our longer in-office session with FBT! https://youtu.be/KO0bYg2J3vY Many of y’all know I was in Australia awhile ago, meeting my friend Kyle Brew (https://youtu.be/cxBxh6fJCRs?si=smfrvnTi-DzLoY3W) and later Brodie Buttons (https://youtu.be/giuITHqbm_U?si=s6VtN8702E56oUvw) for an epic adventure in Melbourne and beyond. While I was there, i’d heard through the grapevine […]
Got a weird one from the vaults. Jody over at Oh Boy called us up and wanted to see if we were down to record some tunes with Arlo. You might remember this original from awhile back at the same session (https://youtu.be/wfMZS8wHRQs?si=7Kuiur6PnsSbOVli). Well, he also did another funny choice tune […]
Another performance by the DUG band in Dublin, Ireland while I was gallivanting around this spring on a little tour with them. Today you’ll receive a little lesson on Irish colloquialisms, including the incredible “riding”. DUG’s music always sounds timeless to me, like an old time song written in modern […]
I recently traveled to the family farm to meet with Jason Dea West, and see where his story started. Jason is one of my old pals, we’ve checked in with him at various times over the years. Hopping trains with Benjamin Tod (https://youtu.be/wwxAqeSMc0k?si=O7Hk3pzQt7nYDzMi) and stopping at a random truckstop and […]
Arlo McKinley is a real one. Recently, one of my very good friends was in a car wreck. He was drunk, rear ended someone and totaled his car. He didn’t realize that if you put someone in your iPhone as an “emergency contact”, it sends out a SOS location ping […]
Winner of the Gems in the Rough 2023 content, Jordan Smart. We recorded this one when he visited Nashville, as part of the grand prize, picking up his Gold Tone instrument and filming with us. This is the song that really turned me into a Jordan Smart fan. He has […]
