Arlo Mckinley does a Harry Style’s song “Falling”
Got a weird one from the vaults. Jody over at Oh Boy called us up and wanted to see if we were down to record some tunes with Arlo. You might remember this original from awhile back at the same session (https://youtu.be/wfMZS8wHRQs?si=7Kuiur6PnsSbOVli). Well, he also did another funny choice tune that day, this Harry Styles cover of all things. It isn’t that surprising I guess; Arlo and me talked a lot about his diverse love of music, from Kendrick Lamar to Townes Van Zandt. He has a lot of range, and a voice that can carry it all.
So enjoy this one from the bowels of the GemsOnVHS server. Thanks to Arlo for lettin’ us get it out to the people finally. Who knows, maybe we will get Harry next.

How does this only have 6,000 views when I've watched it at least 10,000 times?

Amazing performance and recording, I feel immensely inspired by the artistry and craftsmanship that go into making this videos. How did you pick up his voice? I can see the cable going into the guitar's hole but nothing else. Is there another lav behind the body of the guitar or did you boom it?

I’m looking forward to hearing Arlo live one day. I push his brand at least once a week in professional or personal spheres. There’s a lot of relatability, vulnerability, and a genuine state of the union in his work.
I hope he’s well. His song “Ghost of my Best Friend” and “Till the Hurtings Done” helped me unpack and move on to letting people be close to me.

I am obsessed with your field recordings. I am so happy to see one of our local song writers get their spot light. I love Arlo's tone. I also love what you did for Nat when we all found out about his struggles. Cincinnati and northern KY has some high level song writers and I am so thankful you take the time to showcase them 🙏

I believe songs come from something or somewhere all on their own and they belong to the ones who can present them in the way they want to be presented.
