Been awhile since i’d gotten together with my pal Haydem Karchmer (aka the Hill Country Devil), so we decided to meet up earlier in the year for a catch up and chat. We talk sobriety, old movies, new songs and even the first song he ever wrote. This is one […]
This was a recording Tim Duggan and I captured back when we first met Nat Myers in 2022. Not every artist “gets it” when we work together. They try to bring me to some epic stage, or a cool forest, high-tech studio or something in Nashville. They see it as […]
This is a song from our longer in-office session with FBT! Congrats on their new album released today. https://youtu.be/KO0bYg2J3vY Many of y’all know I was in Australia awhile ago, meeting my friend Kyle Brew (https://youtu.be/cxBxh6fJCRs?si=smfrvnTi-DzLoY3W) and later Brodie Buttons (https://youtu.be/giuITHqbm_U?si=s6VtN8702E56oUvw) for an epic adventure in Melbourne and beyond. While I […]
The Seattle Seahawks won the 2026 NFL Super Bowl. How do I know? I was with the DUG band boys and Nat Myers for a tour and we landed in Seattle for the parade. The ticker-tape fell as the floats glided by, and we got to be in the middle […]
The 2023 Gems in the Rough was nuts. Over 1000 entries, the most in the history of the contest, from all over the world. The songwriters hit the campaign trail, and many great folks shared their songs with the community. One person strode through the melee fully in tact at […]
Sasha Boole reached out to me online. It was one of those very random connections, which i’m always keen to engage with. They were a troop of performing Ukrainian artists, a military brigade devoted to performing music for the troops in their country, now on a mission to play for […]
And there I was, back in Dublin, Ireland for a spell in October of 2022. I’d loved my first couple trips so much; the magic of the music, the pub sessions, the artists and the buoyant spirit of it all. I wanted to see what Dublin for a month might […]
When I was last in Ireland, I went to a house show on a whim in Dublin. Nothing better than seeing live music in an intimate space, and I often meet kindred musical spirits in such environments. One such person is Luke Brabazon, an Irish documentary filmmaker whom I immediately […]
Man YouTube has been a drag lately. People are slaves to the algo, naming every video some iteration of what I did this one lol. Anyway, I went to upstate New York recently, visiting the Lowlies. You might remember some of the songs we did together in Smithville, TN (https://youtu.be/nerwetOc6mQ?si=U0ojZKlhErOrlwl6). […]
When I was in Scotland, there was a little spot Matt Heckler had told me about. The Pianodrome, it was a called. A venue, a colosseum of used and neglected piano parts, in a warehouse outside Edinburgh. They let us drop by for a visit and a song, and we […]
