With the exception of panzerfaust and astral fortress both needing to be one rank higher that is damn near a perfect list, this new album almost feels like the underground resistance part 2 to me

I own most , im not a crust punk fan so the ones in that style are not for me , but i love the attitude and their love for metal .. Ill be buying the new one once it drops a bit in price lol

Favorite album is Panzerfaust, followed by Blaze, and then Plaguewielder is a solid one. I don't agree with their 1993-1994 approach, and haven't gotten into anything since 2004. Sorry, Fenriz, but drumming IS important. Sidenote, Total Death sucks IMO, and Goatlord shouldn't even be considered.

I know Panzerfaust's vocal production filters a lot of folks, but it's my favorite of theirs. I can't fathom anything but the four before it to be rated better. Easily one of their best

2:16 those commentary tracks are absolutely fantastic, great shout out, and there are also commentary tracks with NC where he talks about 5-10% as much as Fenriz does. Still fantastic.

Their run since Underground Resistance has been spectacular. Eternal Hails might be my favorite but it's hard to pick. Also, they probably have one of the best discographies in all of metal.

I don't understand why so many fans are shitting on this new album. The best of the recent era for me. But I think the last few have been solid and they were mostly shit on too

Not the biggest Lo-Fi Noregian Black Metal fan, but at least DT try to keep it entertaining.
Those first 4 records are kickers. Then they became a bad version of Venom. Lots of samey type stuff.
Will listen to the new one hoping it's better than the last 50 albums they've released. (except those first 4).

Imo darkthrone is a top tier doom band up there with saint vitus and trouble
