Can't get enough of The Colonel's Bequest. Nothing else quite scratches the same itch. I wish it had taken off and we had 100 games just like it, but instead we just have this singular experience. The 2nd Laura Bow game is fun, but it lacks a lot of what makes this one special.

The time system and character focus are like nothing else. The notebook and "Super Sleuth" scale are so satisfying to develop and perfect. The pixel art is just gorgeous. They made such bold choices with the dithering and it creates a totally unique look and feel.

Such an underrated game. Love to see it covered.

I have the original game at home, still there from my childhood, just the red "magnifying glass" is a bit damaged in the box, but the game is great if you like miss marple stories, it's not a traditional adventure.

You probably already know this but when played through Scummvm there is an option to 'un-dither' games that use this engine. While I sometimes like the dithering for nostalgia, the un-dithering for some of the games really looks great in my opinion. This game and Conquests of Camelot really used dithering ALOT, and are most changed with this feature.

Oh boy I adore that hideous old colour palette and the wonders the early pixel artists managed with it. Definitely going to give this game a try! (and probably fail dramatically, but oh well)

I played this when it first game out when I was 15. I somehow right away knew about the secret passages. Not sure how. It was almost like I knew somehow from some magazine or the like.

The way to play this game is with the MT-32 set up via MUNT emulator. This really elevates the soundtrack to the next level and adds multiple ambient sounds as well as treats you with a welcoming message on the MT-32 display

Looks fun. I'm playing a Poirot game right now, and it really leads you by the hand, step by step, thru the game. This one seems much better, more game designers should use it as a model.

Dear god my great aunt has a clock that chimes like that and it has caused me to have a visceral reaction whenever I hear it. Damn thing used to chime every 15 minutes from 6:30am to 11:00pm.

I was obsessed with this game from when I first played it as a preteen, but I admit the first time I played it I also didn't know about the secret passages and missed out on almost everything.
