My school banned getting up from the lunch tables to go get food. We legit had to ask and when my (then) friend di it, and got our entire table in trouble I cried when we I had to give up a ā€œslipā€ (we had 5 slips a week, if u did something the teachers didn’t like you had to give one up.)

My school banned cards and I didn’t know that somehow so I brought a hockey card to show my friend I was gonna give him it for his birthday but that dumb teacher walks up and says in the most annoying voice ā€œty you know the rules give me that cardā€ I said no and she yanked it from me like it killed her family and then she said the words that haunt everyone ā€œyou won’t get this back until the end of the dayā€ long story short it was gone for longer then a day and luckily I am friends with one of the most popular kids who knows high schoolers and he somehow got it back for me my school also banned them rainbow loom or as we call it rubber band missiles… has the name suggests we shot people with them during test and made them get a zero on the test for talkingšŸ˜‚

I AM in middle school right now (8th grade) and i can tell you confidently KANDI IS TOTALLY BACK. It's absolutely rampant in my school, and so are the I ā™” boobies! bracelets/belts. I am guilty in participating in both of these lol

middle school fads I remember (in order from 2015-2019)

    -Rubik's Cubes
-Loom Bands (I'm pretty sure these got banned, but that might've just been within the whole 'no bracelets' rule that we had until it was changed to 'Maximum two bracelets')
    -Sharpie Pens
-Pencil cases that looked like fizzy drinks cans
-Smiggle (Scented pencils especially, but if one of the girls – the boys never cared – had lots of Smiggle stuff then she was like. revered as a God or smthn)
-Pom-Pom Keyrings (Especially if you had a black handbag from Primark and put the keyrings on there)
-Fidget Spinners (We had a school assembly about those and they got banned – unless you had a reason to need them in order to be able to focus during lessons)
-Those really colourful fidget toys that idk the name of???? The ones that kinda remind me of bubble wrap (They also got banned)

What color is the heart next to your name ? Yes! You got it right it’s BLACK … I used to by able to make them but not the crazy ones but like the basic ones nothing to crazy like the ones you showed in the video… I did really ever see the crazy ones … I used to always see the basic ones… we also had slap bracelets and also bey blades but I didn’t really care to much to play it so I was just there for fun.

Bro the silly bands ban created one of the most intricate black markets at my middle school šŸ’€ Kids would literally fill empty milk cartons with them to trade them in bulk, and kids would literally have lookouts making sure teachers weren't getting furious. I stg I think I made like $80 selling them lmaooo.

And don't even get me started on beyblade. The illegal beyblade battles behind the auditorium were extraordinary. Custom beyblades, intense betting, a booming trade economy. Crazy times.

The older I get, the more I realize that I learned more about the black market trade than anything else important in middle school šŸ’€

Yeah outright banning things is understandable, but ultimately misses the mark. Fads can be a good opportunity to teach kids about delaying gratification and time and place and what not. It should be a learning experience, not a hindrance to learning

I remember when my brother got me into beyblade. The first series I found out about was the metal saga and I fucking love it. Honestly I hate the burst saga but my first beyblade was a burst bey because my mom didn’t know the difference (Bless her soul lmaošŸ˜‚) eventually I got my favorite bey Earth Eagle, and my brother got L-Drago and Striker. I still have both of my earth eagle beys. I also still watch the show cause it’s so comforting to me<3 (I also have a comfort character from that showšŸ„²ā™„ļø)

    I also love silly bands

I remember stealing one of the popular girls Japanese erasers

It was a silly ā€˜lil cat, and I LOVED him. The girl I took it from even confronted me about it, and I was like- noooo and she believed me lmao
