@the mister beast poll. I think that people in the past were far more likely to take the money in exchange for a rabdom person dying than people nowadays.

In medieval europe peasants were worth as much as their death inconvenienced their lord.

well the value in atheism purely as a criticism is to remove one of our vectors horrible behavior: Religious Doctrine. So to de-cult people so they stop victimizing people cause of fables. Also once the veil of religion is removed, you can explore morality more anthropoligically. Or get into daoism 🙂

Flaming assshole He is acting as if God doesn't exist. Does he think that if he eventually 'converts' or whatever you call it. that his conscience won't matter.
He has moral imperatives right NOW and acting against them is sin against any God he ends up believing —- OR MUCH MORE PROBABLE— he will reject God seeing how he has acted

One thing the religious types get wrong is that atheists have made a choice to not believe. That's completely untrue!
If some argument for the existence of any god convinced me that a god exists, of course I would believe it! Just the same way I believe that tables and chairs exist, or that humans have landed on the moon. I don't have to have done something myself to accept that it's been done. I've never seen a Zebra in person, but I know they exist from all the huge mass of evidence provided by reliable sources.
If there was reliable evidence of a god, that would be the very greatest scientific discovery of all time!! But all we actually have is evidence of childhood indoctrination to the benefit of organised religious authorities and personal feelings – so-called 'spirituality'…

"…because we're too comfortable"? Who is "we", buddy? I'm one bad flu away from being homeless, I owe more money for my education than I'll ever be able to pay back, my country is on a lubed-up Slip n' Slide that ends in a Handmaid's Tale LARP, we're sorrounded by people without basic reading comprehension skills or even basic common courtesy or respect for life, and you think we're too comfortable to experience "real" moral dilemmas? Please fornicate all the way off with that kind of nonsense.

2:50 THAT is NOT "diagnosing problems". You misstate what they do. And Karl Marx is a horrible example. Haven't you got anything better than this Alex? And the title is wrong as well. The issue is inverted. You can indeed live as if God exists. That is a problem we have in the churches. What you can't do (for long) is live as if God does not exist. By trying to live "as if" God doesn't exist you prove that you really do believe that he does and you're fooling yourself about your beliefs. You seem to believe in the Scientific Method. Yet, have you applied it in this case? I'd be interested in knowing.

This debate will never end, can we just move on to the next step and act as if religions don’t exist? They can play catch up later when they find the reality as well and stop believing in old stories.

Atheists love to say: I don't believe in God.

Advaita Vedanta, the highest principles of Hindu religion, says the self is a construct. Ego is a delusion. Truth is beyond our perception. We worship the Truth, that which is unattainable. That which is eternal, omnipresent. It's the universal consciousness. Limitless.

Our human bodies are limited so we can never achieve the Truth. We can only get closer to the Truth by moving away from lies.

Think of all the things that are not true. I'm not my body. I'm not my biological age. I'm not my bank balance or social status.I'm not my emotions. I'm not my thoughts or even my beliefs. All these things keep changing with time, while the highest Truth is eternal and unchanging.

Our religion is the pursuit of Truth. To live each day to rid ourselves of lies.

With this approach, it doesn't matter whether I do or do not believe in God. Because both my and My beliefs are ephemeral. Our beliefs change hundreds of times within our life span. Our life span is but a sliver on the large cosmic time scale.

It wouldn't be too inaccurate to say that we practically never existed. Our bodies and beliefs that resides in these bodies our rapidly changing. What's changing cannot be the Truth.

One we realise this, we can stop taking ourselves so seriously. We can stop seeing the minor differences we keep fighting about. We can focus on the large number of things that practically all religions can agree upon.

We can stop harbouring negative feelings for others coming from different religions than us, because they didn't choose their religions. We can stop being attached to our own religion, given that we inherited it just by accident of birth. Maybe we would be equally passionate about a different religion if only we had been born in a different household.

I think most people throughout history would have pressed the "kill a random stranger for a million bucks (or their society's equivalent level of wealth)" button. Most people throughout history lived one bad season away from starvation, after all. That level of material security would have been extremely tempting. They would have pushed it and then felt some degree of guilt about it, depending on their disposition.
What's changed, rather, I suspect, and what might be related to a loss of religious belief coupled with capitalist ethics, is the willingness to admit that you'd push the button.

Atheists act as if they know God and understand him. They probably haven't even read a single in the bible! And don't come to me saying youve read the first chapter in Genesis or something, you know nothing of Gods intent until you've listened to the bible.

I have become MORE genuinely moral person after leaving religion. Before I was doing it more for the image of the religion / god I represented. So personally I would say that if a person can't have a moral and ethical framework without religion, stay in the damn religion! If you can though, you have the chance to be 100% authentic and good person at the same time, so go for it.

I doubt youre readying comments from a year old clip, but I'd love to hear you talk more about Marxism. I'm a fan of Marx and Marxist thought myself, so hearing your take/critique would be interesting!

Christianity and religion are completely different.
    Listen:
Religion is man's attempt to reach God. Christianity is God's attempt to reach man.
He is alive, Jesus is God.
Knowing Him is very real in our spirits. He is not scientifically discerned. He is spiritually discerned through The Holy Spirit, which was sent by Jesus when He assended into heaven.
The Bible says that some will be
"Ever learning and not able to come to the knowledge of the truth " 2 Timothy 3:7

I do hope that all who are searching will be able to experience and know the truth of God for themselves. Then they will know.
